How is Matt Ryan a bad take?

We can get him for nothing, these other guys all will come with a price. Ryans stats prior to this year have been good. He was on a declining Falcons team for years. He went to a Colts team that is dysfunctional organization. It didnt work out but I wouldn't define Matt Ryans year on the Colts as what he is capable of.

He would be an upgrade, obviously but we wont lose much to get him. He won't be asked to do much either. In Atlanta he had to carry the team with his offense and WR. If he comes here he just has to manage the game and make throws, which we know hes capable of.

Matt Ryan is in competition with Zach Wilson for the worst QB in the league this year. It’s a dreadful take. He’s terrible and will likely retire. Cmon man.

I do not think Carr is a good cold-weather QB.

How about a real dark horse, assuming the Commanders are really stupid?

    Taylor Heinicke?

Because you are paying the one no matter what and it hurts the cap more to get rid of him. He is also 23 and has a chance to be fixed. The other one we have seen the ceiling.

Why keep White? You would have Carr and you are already paying for Wilson. Draft mid rounder and that’s your QBs. Jets QBs have been so bad we as fans worry too much about number 2. Who cares who QB2 is? I don’t even know who Mahomes or Allen’s backups are. That is what happens when you have a true QB1

How do you determine that the guy who has less game time experience has reached his ceiling but the guy with less to show for his longer time has not? Have you ever heard the expression "throwing good money after bad?" Every team in the league manipulates the cap but few have no problem actually paying people who cannot perform.

You have to realize that cutting Zach Wilson will cost the Jets money and they won’t be able to resign or sign as many free agents to fill the holes the team has. This is just a fact. It is like a $10m cap hit. Others can chime in with the exact amount. He is going to be on the team period. So you can sign white as well if it is cheap, but for what? He have been in the league for 5 years. Really has not done anything. I would rather take a flyer on a 4th round pick to see if you find a gem. So Carr, clear QB1, Wilson (no choice with contract) and rookie. Don’t care who is QB 2 or 3. That is why you sign Carr.

White, Wilson or both will be on the Jets roster next year. It's also quite possible that a veteran NFL quarterback will also join the team, Carr is only one to be considered. For you to claim that Wilson will "be on the team period" discounts any possibility of a trade or the Jets simply cutting their losses and totally ignores the plain fact that in the past two years White has been the more effective quarterback of the two. I would hope that Joe Douglas is keeping much more of an open mind and confidence in finding the best way to make things work going forward than many of the wags here. The season's not even over yet and you are going way too far in limiting options.

If they cut before June 1, cap hit is $11.18 million. Meaning they have $11.18 less to sign free agents if they cut him. No way they cut before June. Are they signing White and keeping Zach. What a waste of money for two bad QBs. After June 1st it would cost $5.85M. I don’t see anyway the Jets are stupid enough to spend a minimum of $5.85 M to get rid of a player, especially one who is 23. They could trade, but it would still cost the team cap space if it is pre June. That cost is $1.9M. What value are you going to get? You need cap space and a backup QB. Why would you not just keep him and see if he could progress? Like it or not, unless someone comes with a package, Zach is on the team next year.

I am not limiting on who the Jets sign, I just think it would be ideal to sign Carr, stabilize the position for 5 years while you get top 15 play and develop talent. It is what good franchises do. No interest in 1-2 year rentals. It is what bad franchises do.

I have a hard time seeing anyone trade for him when there’s pretty much no chance he’s on the roster past next year. The Dolphins thought they were smarter than everyone with Rosen and pissed away a very high draft pick.

I'm not a big Carr fan but in all honesty he would be light-years better than what we currently have. Even his mediocre 86.3 passer rating looks all world compared to Wilson. He also has 4 fourth quarter comebacks and 3 game winning drives this year.

He also basically ended the Raiders season with a terrible three interception game. This isn’t an original thought but just because he’s better than what we have doesn’t make him good.

Via trade where we give up picks and players and also have to pay his terrible contract? No fucking way. If he gets cut and we can bring him in at mid to low level starter money? Absolutely.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I want no part of that salary or giving up draft picks to get him.

I haven’t seen anyone on this board wanting to give up picks for Carr. In fact several have stated no with a trade. The only thing I have seen is a package trade with Adams that I would be against.

Looking for a stable situation. That pretty much rules out the Jets.

Maybe Carr equates consistently losing for decades as stability?

Damn. That just took the Jets off his list of preferred teams as we are the very antithesis of "stable" unless you count being a perennial loser "stable".
