So we should be rooting for KC and Buffalo to both win or to both lose and a Fins over the Pats and a Jets win, of course.
Nothing good ever comes out of rooting for the Fins. I'll be doing it but it is like lugging 2 pails of water up 5 flights of stairs to try to put out a raging inferno.
You definitely want the Bills to beat the Pats. I am not so sure the Fins go into NE and beat the Pats given their QB situation. The Jets obviously have to win out and if the Pats drop one then the Jets are in.
There have actually been a few solid Jets/Seattle games: 1997 Week 1: 41-0 Neil ODonnell threw for 4 TDs, Keyshawn and Chrebet were unstoppable. 1998: The Vinny Testaverde QB sneak to win the game which was basically THE PLAY that brought instant replay back to the NFL 2004: Big late season win during the Jets playoff push. Chad threw for 3 tds, Curtis rushed for 2 more. Eric Barton had a sack, INT, and fumble recovery. Jerry Rice probably had his last great highlight, a one handed td grab But then there was 2008 ughhh.
The old timers remember a time when the Jets couldn’t beat Seattle - during the Walt Michaels years. They were 0-7 lifetime until finally beating them in 1985. They are on a current 4 game losing streak vs Seattle and have not won in Seattle since 1997. I think they have a very solid chance of winning this game though….
I think the Jets mojo is done for this year. It was a fun ride. I think we lose in Seattle and beat the Tua'less Fins for again.
Pretty much. I'm praying that I'm wrong and they win in Seattle. But after Seattle losing last weekend and then seeing Geno get that front page spread on ESPN.com yesterday as comeback story of the year (I was shocked but happy for him, what a turnaround) I'm very skeptical. That crowd and the momentum he's riding scare me.
Momentum? He hasn’t played very well the last few games…. Not sure about crowd noise. New Years Day…..a lot of hungovers LOL. The key is to establish the running game - Seattle is last I think in run defense. Do that and everything else should fall into place.
Well considering Miami will be playing a 3rd string QB again next week, and the Jets have nothing to play for-- this cynical take is looking more and more realistic. Beat up a defeated Miami team, thump their chests, check receipts, and lose 5-6 spots of draft position in typical Jets fashion.
