For the 2022 season, Derek "Emo" Carr not only leads the league in INTs, he is also second worst in total number of Poor Passes thrown with 95 out of 502 attempts (18.9%). Brady is first in poor passes thrown with 108, but has a lower pct. (16.0%) due to having 170 more attempts than Carr. To put these numbers in perspective, Geno Smith has the lowest poor pass percentage (54-512-10.5%) for QBs with over 500 attempts. Not surprisingly, Zach is at a whopping 23.1%, having attempted only 242 passes. Sure, you can live with comparable numbers if your QB is a big play guy, but Carr's deep pass game does not scare anyone at only 7.0 yds/att. Carr has also posted his lowest QB rating since his rookie season, which indicates he is trending in the wrong direction. Since Carr plays most of his games indoors and in warm weather, one can expect these numbers to get even worse playing in a cold northern climate. Sure, stats can be deceiving, but in Carr's case they are a strong indication as to why he has been shelved for the final two games. https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/advanced-stats-qb.php
Great stats man. I was surprised that Gruden didn't kick him to the curb right away--I've always had the thought that he was keeping the Raiders down.
How much of this year is because McDaniels is a jackass? 2021 with Hunter Renfrow as his #1 WR - 4800 yards 23:18 TD:INT 40 sacks taken (2nd most in his career) 68.4% completion 94.0 rating 52.4 QBR 2020 with Nelson Agholor + Henry Ruggs III + Darren Waller + Hunter Renfrow 4100 yards 67.3% completion 27:9 TD:INT 101.4 rating 64.3 QBR 2019 with Zay Jones, Tyrell Williams, Darren Waller + Hunter Renfrow 4050 yards 70.4% completion 21:8 TD:INT 100.8 rating 64.1 QBR I think there is a lot of recency bias with Carr that stems from this year. He has been asked to carry this team each and every year. He finally won't have to if he was here in NY. He is a top 16 QB in the league without question and that's all this roster needs. Carr is probably going to get somewhere around ~30 million which would put him 13th highest paid QB right now.
Agree. I think Carr would be a great addition to the Jets. The cold weather thing is a little concerning but, with a solid run game and defense Carr just needs to move the chains and be a reliable game manager.
Carr would be no doubt the best QB jets have had Pennington. It is insane to trans Carr when only Jets QB to throw for 4000 is Joe Willie.
Carr’s first 8 year stats are relatively the same as Stafford’s. He also has the record for most head coaches and offensive coordinators in league history at this point in his career. Carr is more of an open Jesus freak and has a much more hateable face for a much more hateable franchise. I haven’t really decided if Carr is the right approach yet but it’d be hard to be super against it.
Not sure if Wentz had a similar situation but there is no need for a team to give up anything right away. The Raiders get out of the contract without owing any guaranteed money if they cut him within three days of the SB. I’d imagine teams would wait to see what the Raiders do and call their bluff. The Titans, Falcons and Colts are the other three teams I’d imagine are players. Maybe the Saints and Panthers.
Yeah there is no shot I'm making that trade and then eating the contract. Rather go another route if I have to trade him. He's only enticing if it costs nothing but money and we keep our picks to improve the roster.
Carr has been horrible with his best friend, hand picked WR Adams. If he can’t produce numbers with Adams, he ain’t doing shit anywhere else.
they let him go and there in ZERO guaranteed $$ unless injured no eating of contract necessary from ESPN " could be cut for a $5.625 million salary-cap hit if the move is made within three days of the Super Bowl. His $32.9 million salary for next year and $7.5 million of his 2024 salary would be fully guaranteed should he be injured." but HARD PASS anyway...
You beat me to it, as far as this year. Waller has been out, his O line is worse than ours. Yes, he has Adam's and Jacob's, but thats about it. Don't take that as a endorsement for Carr. I do think with the scheme we run he would more than likely excel. The issue is what would it take to get him and that freaking abomination of a contract? If its a 2nd and Zach and the Raiders eat some of his contract then he'll yes. If we are talking multiple firsts and pay him screw that
Horrible? Absolute garbage? Do you guys even watch? He’s had a down year by his own standards but these adjectives are silly.
I'm not taking a position on Carr specifically however I do think it is very important for the Jets to have a QB that can play in weather in the northeast in November, December and January and I think it is very important for them to run an offensive system that plays well in weather also. The Jets do so many silly things year after year without thinking about what is really important in their specific circumstances. This why Parcells was so good here and instantly so. He looked at all the things the Jets were doing and he kept the things that worked in NY and he cut out the things that didn't.
I don’t disagree but I don’t have Carr’s exact temperature splits but there’s not a huge drop off into December for his career. That includes cold trips to Kansas City and Denver. I’d also guess it’s a lot easier to play in cold weather when you live in it year round. It has to be awfully difficult to go from 70 degrees to 22 with two days to adjust.
It is true that Carr's teams have been moderate weather teams and it's not just the QB making the adjustment. However do we know that Carr can play in an Erhardt-Perkins? Because the next Jets team that goes deep into the post-season is likely to be running some variant of that cold-weather approved scheme.
