“This is killing [owner Woody Johnson] trust me, I know him well ... All of that booing is driving him crazy. He already wasn’t really sold on this coach. He’s going to want [offensive coordinator Mike] LaFleur out and some changes to that staff. He can’t help himself. Weren’t they 6-3 at the bye? And now they’re getting booed out of their own stadium at Christmas. I’m telling you, something is going to happen there” https://www.nj.com/sports/2022/12/n...old-on-robert-saleh-housecleaning-coming.html IMO that would be a mistake. Saleh & LaFleur can't make prime rib out of prime shit and they were given shit at the most important position
Remember that thread we had asking if we should change the default avatar because Woody is such a good owner now?
They won 4 games last year and now have a shot at a WC this year. This makes no sense as the team showed a nice improvement from 2021 to 2022.
I've included Woody selling the team, in my daily prayers. I don't know about Saleh, but I wouldn't be unhappy if MLF was jettisoned... I've seen too many red flags re: MLF. He can design a good play, but his play-calling is predictable, & often looks like there's no plan to play-calling... like he's just pulling plays from a hat. Very rarely, if ever, see a play set up subsequent plays. He's short on knowing which players to most effectively execute plays. No matter who has been QB, they don't score TDs, especially since the bye. Lots of penalties & mental errors in critical situations. I can go on, but I'll leave it on Zach. That he's regressed is partly on MLF, as is MLF's failure to tailor his scheme to whatever Zach's strengths may be. To me he's not suited as a coordinator/coach, more a play-design assistant.
Both of these comments are spot on. It makes no sense, literally none whatever, to change the GM & HC plus staff now after what is clearly a considerable improvement in both roster and results in 2022. We have lost games we should have won in the last month and they whiffed on the ZW selection, of that there is no doubt, so it is not perfect. But it is better. It can be fixed. They must be allowed the time to continue their upward trajectory. This constant narrative of 'rip it all up and start over' is a strong indicator of why bottom feeding teams stay doing so. Teams that win regularly do not do this. If JD & RS are scrubs my argument will fail. I think they are both quality appointments and should be retained. I think these beat reporters are winding some people up.
It would be just like Woody to make changes just when we are starting to have cohesiveness on the team. CS & JD are all new to their jobs, it would be stupid to let them go after 2 years of work. Defense went from 32 to 4 & offense was hurt by injury & inconsistent play at the QB position, but were better than last year. At the beginning of the year we were all hoping for meaning ful games in December well we're still in the hunt for the playoffs in January. I think anyone would have taken that before the year started. It will be disappointing if we don't make the playoffs but not a failure. Things will be looking very good for next year if we can settle on a quarterback. This musical chairs at the quarterback position isn't going to cut it, just sign Mike White and get a few more offensive lineman in here to help out. Had we had MW, Breece, & AVT all year, I have no doubt that we would have clinched a playoff spot by now. Go Jets & Woody stay out of football decisions & let JD handle it.
Fake news. He wasn't sold on Saleh? You know what the owners do when they are not sold on someone? They don't hire him. There were plenty of good options. Daboll, Peterson were still available. The reason why they got him before they could talk to Daboll is because they WERE sold on Saleh. This was just some shmuck's opinion, I don't buy it.
lol--yup--only a matter of time until we start hearing Zach's mommy allude to the nyj as ruining her son--
eh....me thinks the staff remains in place for another year or more - especially if they sign white. after whiffing on TWO top 3 quarterbacks in what 4 years?? it's time for some stability. keeping the current staff, signing white, and drafting some OL and WR should give us a shot at 10+ wins next year if the stars align.
It does but its at least the second report to this effect in the last few weeks. I hope to fuck it's BS but I'm worried. Woody still think he's the smartest guy at the table not the dumbest. There are realistically very few things the Jets can do to make me give up on them - as I suspect is the case for many of us here. Firing Saleh and inflicting Zach on a new coach might just do it.
With decent / adequate QB play this is a fringe playoff team...we have had literally THE WORST shit show at that position in the league two years in a row. Stats don't lie...Zach is literally the worst starting QB in the league. With above average QB play this is a division-challenging playoff team Saleh and MLF and JD are fine...we just need a QB and to fix that OL and we're in business...changing shit up now would be the stupidest shit we can do...but then nothing would surprise me when it comes to Woody and Chris Johnson...stupidest fucks in the league
If Saleh gets fired and some Renfield gets hired on the condition that Zach is QB1, well even I don't think Woody is that dumb, but if he is, I'll be done as a Jets fan.
