What's the difference between Tom Brady and Mike White in terms of skillset? Please don't site statistics such as "MW has fewer starts than Brady has SBs", etc. Thanks.
PFF GRADE George Fant 47.5 77th / 81 T Duane Brown 58.1 67th / 81 T Laken Tomlinson 56.1 60th / 85 G Nate Herbig 58.0 54th / 85 G Definitely decreased risk of contact.
The game plan should be run/run/run heavy emphasis on the outside zone runs to force the edge rushers to play the run. White starts passing once the Seahawks have started bringing defenders up into the box. You can do this for several drives in the first quarter if need be without exposing White to any legitimate hits. The objective should be the kind of low-scoring close first half that the Jets have routinely turned into second half wins this year. Give the defense something to fight over and they've been very good this season.
Tom Brady only ever got hurt once in his 20+ year career, Mike White has gotten hurt twice in two years.
The outside runs we have ran the last two weeks are slow developing and take forever. Same with the shotgun runs. They are consistently putting us behind the chains on 2nd down. Bam isn't Breece Hall. Those plays need to be shot into the sun, its awful. The lack of a true FB for this offense is so glaring, especially in the red.
White has the skills to operate under center and make the pitches that are faster developing. The Jets need to do something to slow the rush if he plays because if not he is going to get knocked out of the game. Ribs take 6-8 weeks to heal not the 3 he has had.
Maaaaaybe if we're lucky, Mike White with rise to the level where if a defensive player breathes on him they throw a flag too... instead of the guy getting folded in half.
It sounds good in theory but this OLine is awful at run blocking and it’s a recipe for putting them in multiple 3rd and longs to start the game. If Seattle disrespects MW with heavy 8 man fronts, I expect MW to take advantage and air it out.
Seattle isn't going to go in 8 man fronts until the Jets make them. They'd stack against the run if ZW was starting but I'm guessing they're going to go Nickel against White.
I think the OL will play its best game of the year. They should be feeling pretty damn guilty about MW getting his ribs BBQ'd in Buffalo. That's entirely on them. If MW can go to 10 doctors to play with 3 cracked ribs, I think the OL can do no less that prevent that from happening again. If its another lousy game, then the OLC should be walked at the end of the season.
