No he’d go with the vet Flacco because he’s not brazen enough to start Streveler. Saleh would be between a rock and hard place in that situation ….
For sure Streveler would be the most fun to watch... which is pretty much all that's left of this once promising season...
I’m not saying we’d look better than him in pads and under duress and all. But I’m pretty sure most of us can throw a football further than Streveler.
What I’m saying is since the Jets are still in contention I don’t see Saleh starting Streveler over Flacco if the situation arose.
I agree. Drafting a 1st round QB is always a roll of the dice. Look at the 2017 draft. Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Rosen, and Jackson. The two QBs rated lowest in the class by most draftniks were Allen and Jackson and look at where all these QBs are now. Douglas and Saleh need to cut their losses and move on from Wilson. Keeping him in the mix only costs the team another year when they have a playoff calibre team outside of the QB position. I do think that Douglas and Saleh bear some responsibility for Zack's lack of development. He has the physical tools to be an NFL QB. I'm not sure they did him any favors with the O-line they've put in front of him. Last year he had poor supporting help in the skill positions on offense too. I think both Douglas and Saleh are down to their last mulligan. If they can't get a competent QB under center next season and make a playoff run I think both of them are gone.
There is no cutting losses with Zach right now. Contract doesn’t allow. Maybe you could trade but I doubt it. He will be on team next year at least in training camp.
I have to admit I was wrong about ZW. I thought he would improve and be a great QB, but it's just not happening. Sigh...
Charlotte is the 15th largest city in the U.S. Only 9 NFL cities have larger populations. It is larger than San Fran, Seattle, Denver, Washington DC , Detroit, Vegas, Baltimore etc. Yes it is not New York, but its not as backwoods as you would like to make it seem, and trust me gets more coverage than 3 reporters.
I live just over an hour from there. Born and raised in NYC. The difference is striking. Same with markets like Atlanta, one newspaper, handful of reporters, and no pressure. Yes, I lived there too.
Right, Last year he should have sat. It was obvious watching him play. darnold 2.0 and of course it would turn out worst.
"Move on". Hopefully that's a euphemism for kick him in his ass . . . . . . but the cap blah blah. I know, I know. This is why you don't give rookies or second year guys ridiculous contracts until they prove they don't suck hard.
