    In 5 years:

Saleh is coaching in the arena football league and about to be fired and calls Zack out of retirement to be his saviour once again. Zack Bombs again as he gets intercepted 6 times by players who can't make it in the Cfl.

Sorry, this is a long post. But didn't want to drop multiple posts.

The team is not that far off. We have went to war in some close games with 2nd and 3rd string QB's. We have presumably a 1000 yard receiver who has had to earn every YAC because of said QB's.

The D held its own for most of the season but with out the O scoring, eventually it's gonna catch up, especially in a longer season. The goal in year 2 was to play meaningful games in Dec. We did and have. Just, those games came against better teams. We can say they were winnable, but we didnt win. Better team did. Aside from a big error from coaching in the Det game, this has been fun football. We have been in games against 10 win teams and pulled off some great W's.

Give it time, this is a much improved team over the product we have put out over the last 11 seasons.

Some moves will be made, JD did an amazing job this season with bringing in talent, can't wait to see what he brings in next season.

As for our OC, dude has had to try and cover up
    • Zack, who has way less arm talent then I think people give him credit for and horrific accuracy.
    • Mike White, who is very accurate, but not very durable.
    • Flacco, who has a strong arm, but sloth-like movement and might be asleep when on the field. (Although he was racking yards early season)
    • Strev who we not see has no arm strength but crazy heart and pretty good legs.

I would say that's a hell of a job, even if some calls are wonkey.

Appreciate the feedback SOJAZ. Nicely done.
I wasn't trying to make a case for Zach as the solution for us, particularly this year, so if it came across that way my bad. Believe a me, this are the facts. I gave up on Zach for 2022 as a starter after the NE game, and last night after 5 plays I gave up on him for 2023 and beyond .So there, even though hugely disappointed, I'm officially on the record now.
You know by my posts I screamed for Saleh to make a change at the NE game. I also said we were forced into a bad situation the moment White went down. But until yesterday, I held hope we could stash him for one more year as QB 2 or 3, but the game cemented the case for me that this issue is irreversible. Change has to be made at a higher level QB wise for sure No disagreement at all. . I also unfortunately, have lost all confidence we can draft a QB in this organization. .

Putting that to rest, I'm further disappointed at the CS overall preparation for yesterday's game. They did not have this team ready to play ball, may be because Zach sucked the air out of all of them, but this guys are pros, and even after the great D in the first few plays the opposition changed play calling and we looked defeated.

Moving forward. OL needs major surgery. Unacceptable no matter who is under Center. Yes we have a lot of injuries but so have other teams. Mike made them better with the quick timely releases, but in the aggregate we were mostly ineffective to create a meaningful running game, and Mike was absolutely getting creamed with the protection on anything beyond a tick or two. I'm not seeing MLF famous zone blocking that makes the running game so effective and easy either. Sure, we had a hell of a run with Hall, mostly because of his extraordinary talents and breaking plays, but with all the RB talent left we absolutely paled in comparison with most teams we played against. Hopefully all this will change next year when we have a QB under center that is respected for his passing ability, but not sold on the zone blocking system yet.
This team is QB and a few players away from being great. I hope we don't screw up the change. I will root like hell as always but hold my reservations that this young CS can outcoach the opposition when push comes to shove in a playoff run.
Here is to a much improved 2023 Jets team.

Robert Saleh said after the game "we haven't seen the last of Zack".

Damn this guy should just shut the f up, from the day he made the taking receipts common he has proven to be a bufoon. Just don't say anything why say something stupid like that. The whole world knows Zack will never playing for the Jets again. Why keep bsing us?

How’d it turn to be a disaster though? Lol this was suppose to be a growing experience…so guess what? Growing pains are to be expected.

as I stated before, a “reset” or “rebuild” sounds good in theory but this fanbase isn’t built for it. It’s AWFUL for that type of process.

Truth be told after last year the fact they came out the gates hot is indeed showing the promise needed that the needle is pointing up. Yet people still feel the need to say it was a mistake. Impatient.

The flaws in the roster reared it’s ugly head. The OL just couldn’t get over the massive injuries. Mike White being the best QB on the roster and subsequently getting his ribs mashed in my a pourous OL did him in. The run game running behind this bad line and losing the likes of Breece Hall, did the team in.

the defense has been damn good all year. Another game not giving up a lot of points…unfortunately the lack of a cover LB really made teams able to exploit a hole in the defense. It’s still a damn good defense. But teams started to beat the Jets with dumpoffs and TE’s because these LB’s are a weakness in coverage.

But it’s a massive upgrade from the product last year. The talent is has caught up to the league. Now you gotta attack the off-season to plug these holes. Bring in someone off the EDGE, resign Quinnen, continue to develop the kids on the line. Grab some LB’s to cover these athletic TE’s and LB’s. Grab a FS too. Go get a QB to compete with White next season, have Zach stashed in hopes he gets it. Bring in the one cut speed backs that are in the Hall mold. And yes, hopefully bring in the OL guys to fit the ground and pound attack that helped this team get out to the hot start.

Not at all. Zach completely failed and the rest of the team believed they were great and it was only Zach. Therefore you get a D that cannot do anything against the Jags. Don’t lie to yourself, Jags could of scored as many points as they wanted last night. 3 drives in the first half over 60 yds, one 96 with 8 first downs. That says the O owns the D. Plain and simple. OLine is garbage can’t block for anyone. Look at yards rushing since buffalo. WRs cry and complain, want to be traded when winning, fumble, drops, running backward 10 yards after catch. None of it anyones fault except the QBs. Replace him and all things will be better. It is just not true. Team is a scam and a joke. Starts with Saleh through the defense all the way to everyone. Bone head offside on D against Buffalo, multiple bad penalties throughout year, can never get off field on third and long.

    this.

SB run talk was a bunch of koolaid drinkers. ridiculous.

single most important thing? move on from Zach. Try to get a draft pick for him. If not practice squad.

All we had to do is pick Fields instead of Zach as many on this board (myself not included) called for, and I believe everything changes. From disaster we may be competing for the division and easily in the play-offs. It's a tough one to swallow really. Imagine last night we come in with Fields and run that Sreveler offence, but with a super talented guy, like Justin, who has 88 passer rating too without any weapons whatsoever. Now that is a real 2021 draft QB match up. And we most likely win. It's not the rookie HC, rookie QB, it's a giant miss that we had at #2 pick selecting the wrong QB.

I'll try to answer this with my coaching background. One of the most important rules as a coach: NEVER PUBLICLY BLAST/EMBARRASS/BLAME/THROW UNDER THE BUS any of your players. Especially one that might need to have some value in a move.

The D forces a turnover right off the bat which the offense failed to capitalize on. The D gave up 19 points, just a bit above their average in the year. They weren’t great but they still played well enough that a competently run offense for all 4 quarters would have had them in the game.

It's hindsight. The problem though Isn't just the miss on, Fields. It sucks but It Is what It Is. I wish him well but hope he sucks when we play them.

    Now.. My big thing.

How many QBs will we miss on before we finally get our guy? That's the troubling and painful truth. For me anyway.

Think about the laundry list of great QBs we could of had over the years.

When does the law of averages kick In for us? Can someone do that math for me? Fuck..

While I like Selah, he was way outclassed by Pederson last night. That is a smart coach who has an average team playing with the attitude of a top 5 team.

Weren't we In a position to bring him In? I feel like I remember thinking to myself, he was the only other possible option I would consider over, Saleh. Especially when you think about the JD connection.

Hopefully Saleh Is just getting started and we can avoid, yet another, what could have been scenario.

    Only this team, I swear.

EDIT: I wouldn't call It being outclassed though. Pederson clearly has a lot more to work with on the offensive side of the ball than we do. IDK. I don't like that terminology that you used but It's probably not far off at the moment. Meh.

It also didn't hurt that he had Lawrence as his starting QB, while our best QB is Streveler, who only played one quarter. Realistically though, the defense allowed 19 points. Yes, they had some drives, but so did Streveler on their defense. Yes, Streveler, who is 100 times worse than Lawrence. Our 4th stringer (Zach) was going 3 and out every time, so defense could not get rest. It also looks like we had a lot of open players. Look at the play below. Even a back-up QB should get a TD here, and that's a 6 point game. I feel if Mike White plays this game, we win. QB was the difference today, even though OLine played like shit too, not the defense or the coaching.

    i was waiting for this.

for me. its a "sigh" he wanted to just make sure he got the ball catchable and short armed it. he was like "HOLY SHIT" nerves. Uzamah likely doesnt outrun the D.

If you can get a mediocre team like the Jags to go on the road on a short week and perform like that, that is great coaching.

You can't blame the defensive struggles on offense when Jacksonville scored on every first half drive except the fumble and a missed FG. Including an 18 play 96 yard TD drive. By the time we put Strevelor in it was nearly garbage time and he still led two turnover on downs drives, not TD drives. Mostly aided by the sudden change up in play style.

Pederson is doing a lights out job in Jacksonville right now. Their coaching is light years better than ours.

Do you appreciate the disparity in QB that Peterson has over Saleh? If a pathetic scrub like Streveler starts this game he still gets these same drives, but we actually attempt and score FGs, defenses gets some rest, and we might even win. The problem is that for 3 quarters we had a guy at the most important position, who is way worse than the said QB scrub. Peterson had Lawrence. Again, please appreciate the difference here.
