I'm just curious? What do you think JD would be required to spend to get Aaron Rodgers in trade? Based on Aaron Rodgers Salary is this even possible? I would love to say yes but I'm really not sure.....
Hello there - hopefully this thread isn’t laughed as mine did https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/trade-for-rodgers.98132/
Big difference in trying to trade for Aaron Rodgers mid-season versus offseason. That's why it was laughable.
Being a mentor is not in the job description of either Flacco or Rodgers. That's what the coaching staff is for.
Honest Question - Is Rodgers that much different an option as to when the Jets picked up Testaverde? I realize he is older, but even at this age, he is far more talented than Testaverde was (and that was not meant to be an insult to Testaverde).
This team is nearly ready to win. You sign Rodgers and pick up another WR and OT… Hall comes back 100%… And this defense continues to progress. It’s a championship caliber team.
Trade value is mentioned in the article below (GB->NYJ) although there are more holes in the article than in our backup OL https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-realis...rbacks-lamar-jackson-aaron-rodgers-derek-carr
Cost, agreed probably no major difference. Just the reality that a HOF, face of the franchise QB like Rodgers was never going to suddenly be traded to a team like the Jets mid-season. Not sure if he has a no trade clause to begin with, but if he doesn't, there's no way the Packers organization doesn't carefully orchestrate a move without his blessing/approval, and frankly, I can't imagine a player of his caliber wanting to commit to the Jets for the foreseeable future after nearly a decade of the team being incompetent. Not to mention the Jets need to take on his massive contract in any trade, which isn't to say its impossible, but rather likely very complicated for a mid-season move. I'm all for exploring options this offseason including Rodgers if he's available, but your mid-season post was the equivalent of a WFAN trade call.
WAY DIFFERENT. Vinny was never an MVP and the highest paid qb in the league. Move on from the Rogers idea. It's not happening.
The Rodgers thing would be such a Jet move. We already tried that with Farve and that was great till it turned into a disaster. He's also not gonna work for nothing so add 40+ Million to the payroll. We are going to need to find some offensive lineman (the worst part of the team next to QB), a middle linebacker and DE being Mosley and Lawson will cost us 37 million against the cap. Love Mike White but the reality is he's just not mobile and has gotten hurt multiple times because of it. If we play him he will need Brady like protection. Wouldn't mind Daniel Jones if the Giants don't pick up his option but they will..
I’m not a big fan in bringing in a selfish, highly paid asshole. He’s definitely not a team guy and would further alienate the locker room. Hard pass.
Only way Jets should touch Rodgers is if the Packers agree to take Zach in exchange and also agree to pay 90% of Rodgers salary. And what do the Jets do for a QB when Favre Act II finishes his Broadway run to scathing reviews after the 2023 season? Jets need a QB they can rely on for the next 3-5 seasons. If proof of this is required, just take a look how playing the revolving door QB game has worked out for the Denver Broncos since Peyton's retirement seven years ago. They're even starting to give the Jets competition for consecutive seasons failing to qualify for playoffs.
I know MW is injury prone, but is it his fault that our D cannot get off of the field on 3rd down most of the time? The D lost the Minn game, the D lost the Det game, just to name 2. I am not sure what all of everyone is watching with this defense, it still is average to below average at best. Last night they let that chick walk up and down the field on them. True enough you cannot win if you don't score, but the D did little to help except for the first play fumble recovery.
