Saleh in the press conference kept saying, "It's not good enough" and "I don't have an answer for that right now." Not good.
The worst answer to a question in the press conference was when someone said, "When Flacco, White or Steveler play, the offense seems to go much smoother than when Wilson plays. Why is that?" Saleh responded with, "I don't have an answer for that."
No idea why Saleh wouldn't know the answer to that. Everyone else does. Mike White, Joe Flacco, Josh Johnson, and apparently this Streveler kid are all competent people who can, at the most basic of levels, read an NFL defense and have some idea as to where to put the football based on the information they got from reading the opposing defense. And then there's Zach who, quite obviously, either can't or won't do those things.
In this presser Saleh said he kept with Streveler because of his off platform ability. The exact fucking words as to why they drafted Zach… watch Saleh in this presser. He speaks comfortably, but everytime he has to talk about why he pulled Zach his hand starts flying band he’s gesturing. He’s full of shit and this is now dangerous territory
It’s not a good presser, but what’s he supposed to say? That he needed to make it absolutely clear to his boss, behind the shadow of a doubt, that his draft pick was a major mistake? Because that’s what it looked like. There’s no coming back to Zach after benching him for a 4th stringer. And that’s not a decision I believe Saleh was empowered to make on his own, as it’s an organizational decision.
I get It. ..but, you gotta be able to have a better answer than "I don't have an answer to that right now." This was his answer to hand full of basic ass questions. The worst of which... Why does the offense appear to be better with all the QB's not named, Zach Wilson? "I don't have an answer for that right now." Give me a break. I'm a big supporter of this CS but I tend to lean towards realistic views, I'd like to think. Right now.. This Is truly the first time I've questioned this CS. Specifically the head coach. That's just unacceptable.
This guy is not a good coach. He's a good (not great) defensive coordinator; he's bad at almost every other aspect of the game. He makes Rex look like Vince Lombardi.
I might be in the minority here but I feel for Saleh. The QB of the future that they invested so much in turned out to be a dead end. The best QB on the roster is injured. There's no point in playing Flacco, he can't move and doesn't give a shit. Streveler is fun but can't actually throw the football. What is he supposed to do. He knows perfectly well the Zach era is over before it began, and he is sacrificing goats and burning receipts in the hope that MW can start in Seattle in 10 days.
He won’t do it, it he can win ppl back by cutting Uzomah. I appreciate his enthusiasm and can 1/2 forgive his lack of production because of it. That bunny suit shit he pulled was assanine though.
Saleh doesn't need to throw Zach under the bus, since Zach already did that on his own. Reading between the lines, Saleh is saying that he has no clue as to why Zach can't get his shit together. Sure, he may have a little more insight as to why his QB's wheels have come off, but it's not his style to kick someone who is obviously down. If Saleh is reasonable, you would think he would want to move on from Zach as quickly as possible, since his young QB is standing in the way of the team's prosperity. One has to ask The Question: does Salah even have the authority to move on from Zach or does someone further up the food chain have the ultimate say? The only silver lining within this dark cloud is that Zach was unable to back the team into the playoffs for a quick one and done. At the very least, that would have guaranteed another year of torture watching Zach play make believe starting QB. One can only hope the last two games will expedite Zach's permanent removal from the roster. Although not making the playoffs may be painful in the short term, if this crew can find a competent signal-caller, it should work out better in the long run. Yeah, all this conjecture may be a stretch, but when dealing with the Jets, one has to take a few stabs in the dark to try and find any positive from yet another dismal situation.
I had to turn it off after 2 minutes--he's full of it unfortunately. Just wanted to get the run game going--no thought of pulling him after halftime--c'mon man.
Yeah.. He really dug a hole I think with this one. I imagine the media Is going to rip him a new ass for It too. As they should.
In hindsight, they should've started Flacco last week and kept Wilson in his ''reset''. Now, Wilson is completely broken.
It would be a big mistake to fire Saleh. He's given us the best defense we've had since the Rex days, he's a good enough leader, and his OC pick is also the best we've had in a very long time. If we had a league average starter, we'd be on our way to the playoffs, and he'd be in consideration for coach of the year. But we have a second overall pick QB who frankly belongs on a practice squad, and it's killed our season. There's not a coach in the league who would look good under these circumstances.
I agree, Saleh is protecting his players and young qb but behind the scenes its got to be a different story. Saleh I am sure is hurting that he cant get this player to deliver. There are tons of high expectation rookies here making a impact, cant let Zach slide here. He isnt turning it around.
