Zac Wilson is not the answer unless a miracle happens. Is White?

Gimme the guy who can consistently complete a 1 yard pass and doesn't float it to the other team anyday, but I am afraid this organization doesn't want to admit they drafted the biggest bust since Gholston. Sanchez and Darnold look way better year 2 than Zack with far less talent. Darnold looked good with Robbie Anderson and once the Jets eliminated his weapons he sucked. Zack has no excuse he has major weapons.

They can get creative. Give MW 3 yrs 45 mill ... if he loses the QB comp and ZW clicks they can give him a handshake deal that they will trade him during the 2024 preseason when another teams starter inevitably goes down ... this is what they did w Bridgewater a couple years ago.

He will get much more elsewhere why would he wanna be here battling Zack in training camp for less, there's like 10 teams that would throw alot of money for him to be their starting Qb.

If Jets don't move Zach this offseason (trading him seems unlikely), they probably let Mikewhite walk and sign a career backup...err...competitor for Zach's position. Someone like Jacoby Brissett, who doesn't wind up breaking the bank, nor threaten Zach's job security to any extent.

Since the Tennessee Titans appear to have hit the skids and may need a rebuild before moving into their brand new stadium in 2026, would love to see Zach dealt straight up in exchange for QB Ryan Tannehill, who will be a Free Agent in 2024. Tannehill has playoff experience, over 60% completion pct, low INT rate and knows how to manage a game playing with a prolific RB in the backfield. If Zach ever gets his shit together, it's a trade both teams can benefit from (short term for Jets and long term for Titans).

As for the rest of the 2023 QB Free Agent list, nothing much to write home about, especially for the inflated amount of money some of them will be demanding. Better off spending the money on Mikewhite instead of bringing in one of those uninspiring low energy FAs. More than one way to skin a cat here, as the Jets Front Office/Coaching Staff will be under considerable pressure to bring stability to the QB position in 2023. Here's hoping they don't once again end up with a dead cat on the line.

White has played in 6 games in a 5 year career. In those 6 games he’s been injured badly enough to miss multiple games twice. While he has looked nice, odds are not in his favor to sustain long term high level success. It’s a massive risk to bail on your #2 overall pick for him. A very costly risk as well since White won’t be coming cheap, which will without a doubt cost Douglas his job next season if White fails. If he sticks with Zach for one more season with a cheap veteran backup like Brissett and has a decent draft we’ll have another mediocre season once Brissett takes over, and that will buy Douglas the right to take one more crack at a QB and at least job security through 2024 and likely beyond. Our real hope at QB is likely in the 2024 draft.

If you're looking for guarantees for White, Wilson or anyone else, you're watching the wrong sport. The biggest reason there are so many guys still largely supporting Wilson here is that they got lured in by the "unanimous number two" crap believing there was some kind of guarantee involved. The only guarantees in the NFL come with established veterans and they can be torn up as easy as an ACL.

So if we sign Jimmy G. we might be able to get a full season between the two.

The Jets are all-in on ZW for non-football reasons.

I think that's going to be the capper on the Johnson ownership although I don't know when Woody will throw in the towel.

The Jets are a team that can win now with only competent QB play as evidenced by MW performance and even win despite less than competent QB play. JD owes it to this roster he has assembled to put an experienced competent (not necessarily superstar) QB under center.

    1. Mike White would be a good answer except that he seems to get injured a lot.
    2. Aaron Rodgers would give a few good years, but would he be a lock for a SB in those years? When he's done Jets will be back to square one in the QB search.
    3. Chris Steveler is too inexperienced.
    4. We need to scour the rosters of other teams to find a relatively young 27-31 y.o. guy who's had some success in leading an offense. Possibles: Gardner Minshew (but only if he losses that mustache) or Brett Rypien. This is just two QBs off the top of my head of guys who have won games as backups. There may be younger possibles such as Brock Purdy or Baily Zappe. Then there is the group of former starters looking for a new home like Trubisky, Mayfield and maybe even Sam Darnold. The point is this roster doesn't need a superstar at QB to win.
    5. Under no circumstances should the Jets go the draft route for the foreseeable future.

I would scratch Purdy and Zappe off that list, they aren't going anywhere soon.

Here is something out of the box.

Would you trade Zach for Davis Mills this offseason?

Some background. Mills got pulled the same week Zach got benched. His replacement, Jeff Driscal, was way worse, but he could run decently. So the next two games the Texans went with Mills for passing downs, and Driscal for option plays. This is crazy and shouldn't work in the NFL, but they almost beat Dallas and KC doing this. My point is, the Texans clearly want a mobile QB who can run effectively. They will probably try and get one this offseason.

This leaves Mills available. Would you be open to trading Zach for Mills and rolling with Mills next season?

Mills has a lower QBR than Wilson and that has to be hard to do. His passer rating is marginally better. Why trade one project for another and I still think Wilson has a higher ceiling. Hard pass for me.

So you want to invest 25-30m per season to the QB position for the results of Zach Wilson and Mike White. You could let White go, trade Zach, and sign Aaron Rogers for 30m. Why in God’s name do you want to invest franchise QB levels of money for a position where the best you’ll get is the better of White or Zach?

Mills had a breece hall like RB, and excellent number one receiver, and cornerstone left tackle, and still looked pretty bad this year. Zach is worth a whole lot more to teams. May as well sit on him.

The Texans offense is considerably less talented that the Jets. Their o-line is worse, Cooks has been dinged up, and Pierce is their only weapon. Plus Mills would cost 8 million less than Zach next season. That alone would make it worth it if we are going to improve next year.

Yeah but Purdy and Zappe are promising rookie QBs who are earning less than a million a year for the next 3 years. A team would have to be either crazy or stacked at QB to deal them.
