A thread was started and I guess the poster didn't like the responses since most didn't just agree with him so he called us all bozos and said his thread was "tung in cheek" meaning not serious or funny. The correct saying is, "tongue" in cheek.

That's the UK usage. Soda is reserved for a slightly bitter carbonated water like you would use as a mixer in a drink. Sweet fizzy drinks like Cola or Dr Pepper are known as pop. Or they used to be when I was a kid, it's kind of becoming an obsolete usage over here now as brand names are becoming the norm.
There's some places the states where they call everything a Coke.. What kind of coke would you like?. "Pepsi"
