I know some are going to ask "are we going to make an appreciation thread for every player?" When your team is playing well beyond pre-season expectations --- the answer is yes. But for me - appreciation is about finding those players who are quietly excelling, not getting a lot of recognition & are another reason for the success we are having. Michael Carter II is having an EXCELLENT season in the slot. Overshadowed by Sauce & Reed - he's invaluable for our pass defense. Sauce & Reed are providing blanket coverage on the wideouts --- which makes MCII's performance even more impressive - since you think the opposing QBs would just switch to the w/dumpoffs for the slot receivers. But MCII is playing just great. And the ripple effects are contributing to significant pass rush success this season. I know guys don't like PFF scores, but MCII is at 79.5. He's an absolute gem of a draft find in the 2021 5th round. In the 2nd year of his 4yr rookie contract. I know looking ahead is the wrong thing to do - but we are going to have some hard contract choices to make in a couple/few years. A great problem to have.
I think that’s a chicken and egg scenario. Each factors into the other. It’s a good defense. At times it is a suffocating defense and yes, MCII is playing his part.
Still has been having a great year. Just had his worst game of the year unfortunately. It happens. Hopefully it's a one off
I'm going to tweet him a link to this thread so he can sue you for the damage you did to his reputation and leverage in contract negotiations.
While I agree with the sentiment about needing to replace Joyner. I hate when blanket untrue statements are made. He made a first quarter diving interception in a scoreless game in Pitt, along with another one to seal the deal in the fourth. If those are not impact plays I have no idea what is.
the good news is they will get back like 10 injured lineman haha I do agree on safety, Whitehead is a little small. That's why we see guys break his tackle in the open field
Eh, don't think it's his size. Probably more that he thinks he'll be able to take down 200+ pound super athletes by throwing a blind shoulder into them instead of wrapping up.
<sigh>..................ok. Please, - I beg you,....forgive me. Restated = other than the 2 picks off a rookie QB in Pittsburgh & the interception off future Hall of Famer Brett Rypien, - its my humble opinion that we need to replace Lamarcus Joyner at the safety position. So, - taking into account the aforementioned isolated impact plays,..................he hasn't done much.
