They were 14-2 in 2006 and lost to the Pats in the Divisional Round. They were 13-3 in 2009 and lost to us in the Divisional Round. Those squads were loaded and couldn't win a single playoff game.
This is the year to make the playoffs and break the streak. Who knows where we will be next season? Bad teams that rise aren't necessarily rising for more than a season when they do.
Who says we are a bad team Brad? This years team is built foundationally strong. Future years look bright as soon as we figure out the QB position. We will be in the thick of playoff races for a while trust me.
I think he means we were a bad team, meaning last few years not this year. This year we are on the rise.
Yeah I figured what he meant but 2015 Jets would fit the bill better. That was a bad team with a one year fix. Nothing about this team says we will be bottom of the barrel again.
Yep also the Jets divisional record is 2-3 while Miami is 2-1. So even if Miami loses both divisional games and fall to 2-3 in the division, and the Jets go 3-0, the Dolphins game will still be a playoff game because the winner of that game would have a better divisional record so if Miami won and we end up tied with the Dolphins to end the season, they would get in. At least we beat Miami earlier this year so we can get 2-0 in the head to head which gives us tiebreakers if we beat them and end up tied. Hopefully the Chargers collapse though and we don't have to deal with any of it. They seemed good this last week, but the week prior they lost to the Raiders. It really sucks Miami couldn't beat them though, kinda opened up the gates for all of this. Might bite Miami at the end if the Jets prevail.
Easy breakdown The biggest two games to avoid win and ins (I'm assuming we have 10 before we enter Miami week 18) are going to be Chargers vs Colts week 16 and Green Bay at Miami. We really want Green Bay to beat the Rams this week b/c if they win out they can get in as a WC in the NFC. If Miami slips vs Buffalo and then slips vs Green Bay, we become big Patriots fans for the Miami vs New England week 17 game. EDIT -- Alright I'm so far down the rabbit hole with this -- Rooting guide to make week 18 not a win and in. These scenarios would have us cliched by week 17
A "Win and we're In" for both teams last week of the season will make for an exciting game.... and I think I'm headed south for that one.
If Jets-Miami is a win and in game, it likely gets moved to Sunday night football right? although there are some potentially good options that weekend, I guess. the Ravens & Bengals could be playing for the division
My wife bought me tickets for that Miami week 18 game and I’m not sure if i can handle that being win and in.. I still think we get enough help that if we are 10-6 before that final game we will be fine
I have jury duty on the 9th and don't have to be there until 8 am, only about a 3 hour drive for me so may do the same, showing up very hungover could also get me kicked out of jury duty so a bonus there. Cheapest tickets I can find right now are $152 though for nosebleed seats.
It's a HAUL for me, but I think a buddy may have access to a corpo box for the game (free tix/ free drink)..... they all went (all dolphans sans myself) last year. Last year i barely wanted to put in the effort to drive to the bar a mile down the street, let alone 5 hours away to watch them get pounded.
Depends. If it depends on the results of other games then it would probably not get flexed. If the other results dont matter, and it is a straight playoff game then it will get flexed unless something else out there is better. The Jets REALLY need the Bills to beat Miami. If that happens then the Jets only need to win 2 of the last 3 games (Assuming the Pats fold up). That Seattle game may be be completely meaningless week 18 if we can beat the Lions and Jags at home. Lets just hope the Bills dont blow it. I think going 3-0 the next few games would be pretty difficult.
