So Zach's development is more important than the team winning, when they're in the middle of the playoff hunt nonetheless, and the development of other offensive players? At this point in his career, the 2nd overall pick in last year's draft who has played 20 games should not be a worse option than their journeyman backup QB who has only a few NFL starts.

That they should stick with Zach over Mike White was a okay take prior to the Bears game. After Mike White had a better game than Zach has had his whole career and the change in team energy is palpable, it's a bad take.

At some point (and it should have been from Day 1), Zach Wilson has to earn his starting spot. Why should he keep playing if another guy is better? Maybe if you're 2-9, but not when you're in the thick of a playoff race. The CS isn't doing Zach well to play him if he shouldn't be playing based on performance. He'll be better for it if he can earn the job. And if he can't, then he doesn't belong.

Is that really true? I thought with Fields' emergence @legler82 really solidified himself as a legend in picking QBs. Fields right now looks pretty good. Granted a lot of it is his running game, but still he is on track for Josh Allen like second year ascend we wanted for Zach, with 86 passer rating on top of elite running. But if Legler did want Hack, that does change the picture quite a bit!

He is watching - he posted analysis of every throw from last NE game recently. He just thinks Zach needs more time, and he believes it is better for young player development to take the lumps, and work it out, particularly against weaker defenses like Chicago and Minny, using them as sort of a spring board.

Zach is just 23 years old. Look at Mike White even - just had an elite performance. Yet at 24/25 Mike was playing in preseason looking like total garbage with 63 passer rating and was waived. Who knows if Zach turns it up a year from now. Chances might not be high, but it's still possible, and Simms does have a point when it comes to purely QB development. He counters the argument that they are in play-off hunt and Zach is not playing well by saying he thought we were going to win against the Bears regardless. Not a crazy take.

However, notice when someone brings up that he lost the locker room. Initially Sims is saying that he hasn't heard about it before, brining up when the team loved Zach during his off the field adventures. Then he remembers the comments by GW and Moore and kind of backs off, saying maybe there is something to it. So, even Sims kind of backs off at the end.

Not saying I think he’s the long term answer but he wasn’t bad against the Colts. He just got hurt and our defense got avalanched. He was 7/11 for 95 yards and a TD.

We shouldn’t write off White neither. He maybe the answer…especially in this type of offense. Age shouldn’t mean anything…white clearly sees the field and knows the offense.

That’s the thing I see with Zach, he’s not seeing the field. I believe he knows coverages, but his progression seems to be jacked up. You can’t miss wide open WR’s, you can’t be late and overthrowing. It seems mental at this point.

It will be interesting to see if ZW adjust his attitude, and how much he improves seeing the field. You’re in the playoff hunt and go with the best QB that gives you chances. It’s not ZW right now. That’s pure and simple.

As far as Fields, he is making progress and improving. To say that he s just a runner, hasn’t been really watching. Fields does need some work in his passes but it’s improving. IF ZW was in Fields situation, he would still be the Jets QB in the playoff run.

With out proof of a quoted post I am going to say he didn't back Hack, there might have been encouraging words about him running a pronounce as freshman before a new coach came in and ruined him.
I'd take it with a pinch of salt for now.

He did that on twitter. One tweet for every pass play. It was borderline scary, almost stalker-esque behavior.

Calling for mercy--let him back Sunday morn so he can post on the game thread. I'm sure he's learned the lesson.

The best evaluators are 70/30. Everybody else tracks lower than that. Many evaluators are 30/70 when it comes to QB's because that is just below the actual success rate for QB picks.

If you're 50/50 on QB picks you are substantially above average.

He didn't struggle against the Colts, he got hurt, but he had a pass rating over 120 before that. He's had the one bad performance, and three really good ones.

And it is disingenuous to say he must be bad if he hasn't started. The team was always going to give Zach his chance because of the money and draft capital invested in him.

He was OK against the Colts, but not as great as passer rating suggests, and he was bad against NE and Bills. We cannot discount games where he played but didn't start. I think Michael Nania is spot on here, where 50 is average, 60+ very good, <40 poor, and 70+ is elite:

If you factor reports from training camp and preseason, Mike sort of flashed last year, but he was below average overall last year, and didn't really do all that great this offseason. It appears things started clicking in the last pre-season game this year. He then followed it up with great practices, where coach Uhlbrich was saying he gave them better looks than opposing starting QBs, followed by Saleh elevation to #2 based on what he saw in practice, and then to #1 when Zach stunk. He now had elite performance against the Bears. I feel there is a strong possibility he can keep this up, not at that same exact level perhaps, but be very good going forward. Hopefully tomorrow we will see the continuation.

i would disagree but that’s okay. I thought he looked really good. Not perfect, but he moved the team and got us in the end zone. I think sometimes people get hung up on a QB being perfect. The defense was putrid back then though! I would say go back and watch White’s performance again, but that would mean watching that defense again as well! I can’t believe how much they have improved.

    Just to be clear...

Justin Fields was better In college than Zach Wilson. Justin Fields Is still better than Zach Wilson In the NFL.

Fields Isn't a "horrible" passing QB. Again.. Look no further than our very own shitty QB numbers with Zach Wilson. There will never be a world where Justin Fields has 2 yards In a half of NFL football.

I like you as a poster but your post was unnecessary. As Fuck.

Justin's injury is a bit concerning - guys who run a lot do get hit and need to be able to absorb it, like Lamar Jackson. Wonder if this injury slows his game. Still, clearly at this point Fields is rapidly ascending, unlike Zach. Without Mike White's performance last Sunday things would look much more bleak for the Jets.

Speaking of Fields though, it looks like he had unbelievable receivers to work with in Ohio st. Olave and GW are by far two best ones from the draft and both may already be top 10-15 in NFL as rooks. Plus he had Jamison too. Question, have you watched Olave play this year, and does he look better than GW? Numbers suggests he is #1 and GW is #2 of the rookie class, by would be interested to hear from someone who watched Chris this year if it is really so.
