My point is that these things that bother you are not going to be better if the Jets move. In fact, the prices will be even more if Woody can't split the cost plus stadium will be located in more expensive area. I guess I am missing the point, because I don't see the upside. I also like the actual product first and foremost, so I suppose other things bother me less. Though it is also nice to take a piss without waiting in line for the entire halftime, like in the old stadium, so that's one definite improvement they made from before
What? That’s exactly what would happen if they moved and built a better stadium - the immersive fan experience would be way better. I will agree with you on that. Access to the pisser in the new stadium is awesome. I swear Giants stadium had 4 total bathrooms in the entire place.
In what ways would my experience be improved? You mentioned the experience cost before, but without a split with Giants and in more expensive area (NYC) the cost will be higher. Traffic will also be more, particularly with all the casinos and apartments the senator is proposing. That is not an improvement, but a significant downgrade from where we are today. I get the point @NJJets is making about team colors instead of beer advertising, but this can be done in Metlife easily even with two teams and is not done not to lose advertisement revenue, hence it won't be done anywhere else either. So, again, a genuine question, in what ways would my experience be improved? So far I see higher costs and more traffic. That's not way better, it's a lot worse.
I’m not talking about the experience cost as you are interpreting it. I’m saying if the experience cost was dirt cheap, there would be less of a right to complain. I’m just not sure how you can’t see the difference in the three pictures in terms of the environment? They rebuilt Giants stadium with more bathrooms…
"Most of the ticketholders" are johnnies-come-lately; the roots of the Jets are firmly planted in Queens with a huge fanbase on Long Island that would welcome a new stadium they could get to in an hour or less while we have guys here complaining about needing to drive forty minutes from Connecticut and leave their Stepford wives at home, no doubt.
What a stark contrast. Insane and the Jets/Giants should be ashamed, they let everyone down with this awful attempt at any type of fan experience, comfort, space and architectural expression, instead this concrete shithouse.
That was Goodell. I don't know why any Jets fan would think they had "resale value." PSL's have been a scam for decades.
You can’t just take pictures of exclusive amenities and try to crowbar it into your argument lol. I took general admission tickets. There are 800 tickets in the entire stadium allowed into the 50 Club. Mezzanine club has 2,900 combine capacity. You buying bougie ass tickets all the time or what, Borat? I didn’t even go down the path of the upper echelon experiences at other stadiums or at least the pictures of them. It’s different but I’ve sat in suites at both Prudential and MetLife and the Legend’s Club at Yankee Stadium and Prudential/Yankee Stadium were both waaaay better.
The the whole point - it's not the architecture, it's not the location, it's how ownership is a bit cheap to provide some of these amenities for GA. It's the same reason why there are beer commercials instead of team colors, why there is no roof. All I am saying is that is not going to change anywhere you go. The only thing that will change is that same thing will be more expensive and with more traffic to get to. I understand that for you and others it is important, while for me not. But it exists today, you just have to pay for it. I think the point you guys are missing is that it will be the same story no matter where they move, only more expensive due to increased costs, plus more traffic.
If you don’t live in Queens or Brooklyn getting to a stadium in Queens is hell. If you live outside NYC and not on Long Island getting to a stadium in Queens is hell. The primary reason that the Jets moved out of NYC is that they were fighting the Giants for STH and the money was in North and Central New Jersey and to a lesser extent Western Connecticut. The Meadowlands was a straighter shot with less traffic for all of these groups. The reason Westchester/Yonkers would be superior is that it is a straighter shot radially speaking to all points of the compass except for Long Island. One bridge for everybody south and west and no bridges east and north. Queens is like a fortress in terms of accessibility and asking most STH to cross two bridges to get there would be a huge depressant on ticket sales.
Let's go to the stadium.... so we can sit at a table, order ridiculously overpriced food.... AND WATCH THE GAME ON TV...... then we tell people we were there....YAAAAAY
Imagine a NY Jets fan living in beautiful NYC having to pay $30 in bridge tolls to travel 15 miles to a place like the Meadowlands to see the NY Jets Personally I would like to see a stadium in The Bronx right up near Pelham Bay Park. I could fly up and stay at my mom's place and be at the game in 10 minutes
This would work also although it would probably be more expensive to build and with more regulators involved since it is in NYC. I like Yonkers as a potential location because you only have to deal with the state and with Yonkers and Yonkers is going to be 100% behind you because of the jobs and tax base the projects would provide.
Fans want convenience and comfort, does not surprise me many here like Metlife mainly due to commute or the tailgating they have gotten used to. From a business and venue operation standpoint, bringing them back to NYC will generate even more money. Almost assures we get a super bowl among major concerts moving forward. Driving isn't going to be the best sure but I think some choices will be made so that they allow for a more transit commuter friendly situation. Again I know people who drive won't like that
Not sure about more net income, because expense is much higher, but I agree about the revenue. And guess who will be largely on the tab for that increased revenue? That's right - us. Be careful what you wish for.
I feel ya on the people on hook for this. Depends what Woody and Co want, I am just tired of sharing a stadium with the Giants
Fortress? Spare us the drama. The Flushing Meadows area is surrounded by highways that go in all directions as well as public transportation by both buses and trains as well as being located between two major airports. The reason that the Jets moved to New jersey was not the competition for season ticketholders, it was an unacceptable situation sharing Shea with a baseball team that had control of the lease. Both football teams enjoyed waiting lists for season ticket holders. You seem to have left out Manhattan and the Bronx when you were naming boroughs with easy access to the Citifield area and Staten Island is one bridge away. The New York Jets belong in New York, not New Jersey.
