Ya--do you think they had limited notepads? I thought if I was an employee wanting to get better I would have ensured I had one available pre-game--terrible look. Also you can look over Flacco's shoulder if you had an ok rapport with him.
There’s no excuse for this. Even if he didn’t have a tablet of his own, he should be looking in on the plays, listening to the interaction. How is he sitting there like that?
Yeah. I really, really want to find some clips or stills of him smiling and/or cheering on teammates during a rousing blowout win, because while I'm out on the kid as a football player and his personality has bothered me, I'm not rooting for him to continuously implode. What I saw of him on the sidelines while watching the game today felt like I was watching him sink yet another level lower.
No, it was on tv for a solid 5 second span. He was just sitting there looking off like that while the guys were talking
The tablet thing might be worse than the press conference. You'd think he'd be self aware enough at this point to know that all eyes are on him and that he's got to mature, and quickly. And for this to be the narrative about him after Mike White goes out there and puts on a show, it's not a good look, at all, for Wilson. Just confirms that Saleh was right to bench him, and that Saleh was wrong to have waited as long as he did.
Demoted Quarterback Lesson Chapter 2. Stare intently at an ipad to avoid the lens of the local sports media. A lesson I'm sure the veteran Joe Flacco has learned as we see his fascination staring at the blue pad.
Flacco win a super bowl. Zach should have watched a goddamn movie in a tablet and pretend. His PR team needs to do better. I feel bad for him. It’s gut sucking to figure out how bad you are compared to your back up, journeyman QB. He’s also well like and the team was clearly behind him. I haven’t seen that with other backups; other than maybe taysom hill?
Zach has not been served well by anyone close to him. MLF and Calabrese haven't improved his game. Flacco and Saleh haven't fixed his PR image as he still looks like a petulant child on the sidelines. His OLine disintegrated before the season began. Couple all of that with Zach's character flaws and you wind up with a dead end #2 overall pick that has bust written all over him At this point, the best thing for Zach might be a new address in a different city. No matter what Saleh says, if MW keep up this level of play or even comes close Zach Wilson never sees the field again this year barring injury and even then, it might be Flacco that gets the call.
Perhaps they've tried and the result is still what we have seen the past week or so? The whole 'you can lead a horse to water' business.
How can you possibly feel bad for him, everything he is doing is self inflicted. At the end of the day he is making more per game than most people make in a decade for just being a bench warmer. He simply don't care. Don't feel bad for this spoiled little shithead.
The sideline images pretty much means you can stick a fork in him dude. Michael Jordan and Tom Brady down to Thomas Jones and even David Clowney hated fucking losing. Zach Wilson doesn’t really give a shit. And I hate attacking any man’s character but he’s uninterested. And that’s OK. But the locker room is filled with 53 Type A’s. Your quarterback can’t be unsure about winning and being willing to die trying like he is.
He's been treated far better than Geno or Sam. They had to deal with incompetent offensive coaches and little talent on the roster. Zach has a good OC in MLF, a solid stable of pass-catchers, and a true number 1 receiver in Garrett Wilson, which becomes apparent when anyone other than Zach is playing QB. His failures aren't anyone's fault but his own.
Hard to see what the future holds for Zach. If White keeps playing like we saw today... the team (and the fans) would go nuts if Zach gets another start. The shots of him on the sideline not being engaged are a bad look... possibly a bad omen. The coaches and the front office have a lot to think about...
We have to be somewhat honest with ourselves. The Bears defense (at home) is dogshit compared to the Patriots defense (in Foxborough). While we can acknowledge that, the Patriots defense isn’t some sort of juggernaut. It’s a mildly average NFL defense and there weren’t any conditions that hurt any birds in the area in that game. Mike White just Joe Namath’d that game. And he also got a fresh fade before kick.
Zach will either be traded in the offseason or have to compete for the starting job next year. As for White, he should keep starting until further notice. He showed the ability to do the basics and the team clearly supports him.
Of course we’ll never know, but you have to think that things would have turned out differently for ZW and the team, if Coach Knapp had been around. His untimely and tragic death changed a lot of things.
