I mean he's 27 years old and has started 5 games, 4 of which were on a bad team. He's got 8 TDs, 8 INTs, and a passer rating of 88.2. I'm not saying he's likely to be the franchise guy, but there are at least games you can point to and say "If he can get more consistent and play like that most of the time, then we have our guy."
What impressed me the most about White compared to Wilson is how quickly he was able to get rid of the ball most of the time. It was 1-2-3, throw, instead of...snap, run for dear life hoping to make a play worthy of ESPN SC highlight reel, which I am sure worked for him in HS and college.
Agree, I bet there is a Stat that says Mike was a full second faster at getting the ball out then Wilson who just likes to hold onto the ball and constantly roll out
Sorry but I’ve been down this road so many times ….We all have. Matt Robinson, Glenn Foley, Ray Lucas…..we’ve had so many QBs come from nowhere had a few good games and then poof - defense began to figure them out and it was over. I like White I really do. He has the size, the decisiveness, the IT factor. Teammates love him…..seems modest enough. Doesn’t do anything stupid. He can play in the league that we know. He is the best QB in the roster as of now if not in talent definitely in numbers and results….it’s just … a lot of us are waiting for the other shoe to drop because we’re so accustomed to it. I have a gut feeling he will play well next week also. Win or lose. I just need to see it …
Instead of running like a chicken with its head cut off. Oh I mean running backwards. Yeah nice to see a QB make a good read.
If Zach sits the bench, watches, learns and stays involved, he could benefit. If he sits the bench like a lump and collects a paycheck it's his own doing. His future is in his own hands.
Dick Wood started 12 games for the New York Jets in 1963-64 seasons before the Jets signed Joe Namath. Wood was the first player to throw a touchdown at Shea Stadium. He played for 5 NFL teams including the first ever QB for the Miami Dolphins. Wood served as a coach for more than a dozen NFL teams including RB/QB coach for the Jets in 1995. That's who Dick Wood is.
Zach has the physical stats that made him a top pick that white doesn't. He's quicker, more elusive and a stronger arm. Which gave him an apparently sky high ceiling. However, mike is showing the basic competencies of NFL QB 101, which Zach failed to show. Sure I expect white to not have the ceiling that Zach could have, but all we need is someone who can run the plays as designed, accurately with quick decision making. Mike is showing this. Let's see how this new era goes, but it's night and day compared to the QB of the last 5/6 weeks. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
He's gonna take the latter. Kid is not built like a true QB. You could see it in his sad hoodie covered face. He's a coward.
The entire Jet offense looked energized and playing with purpose. Except for one player, this is the same offense which has been beta for most of the season. Amazing how one player can spark or suck the life out of a team.
White's had 2 games in just 5 starts where he's thrown for 3+ TDs and 300+ yards. If that's not a high ceiling, I don't know what is.
And honorable mention to Elijah Moore for getting involved. If we get can him integrated this offense can be more than sufficient.
Never say never. We have a championship caliber defense. If we can get efficient offensive production anything can happen. If Trent Dilfer could do it.....
