Thats been an ongoing thing since the beginning of fishing tournaments You have to agree to take a lie-detector test to enter them here on positive note, my brother in NY, just picked up the same exact boat I have (same model and year (Sailfish 170cc)... I have a bigger motor though) pretty random.. but cool. he's stoked
Brother just told me stripers are on a tear.... and he just got his boat in the water, so he's excited. Go get some
I follow a lot of RI fishing groups and they are just killing it. I was supposed to go kayak fishing with my father in law in Tuesday but I bailed. He fished the harbor and it was dead. I might head there and fish from the shore.
My buddy just got a "new" offshore boat and is fired up to fish sunday as that may be the day conditions dictate.... I havent been offshore in quite awhile, but this is also the 1st time in years I really want to watch the JETS. tough dilemna, but I may go fishing
Bumpy inlet on the way out, but couldnt ask for nicer weather and a smoother ocean on the way in.... ran 40mph for the 50mile ride in 2 decent mutton snapper, 8 triggers, 8 vermillions, 1 mangrove, 2 AJs.... and unfortunately the first spot, we all caught a few "endangered" red snapper
Took the yak out sunday to ride the tide to some skinny backwaters.... which were still pretty dirty from the hurricane. Big tide swing finally brought in much cleaner ocean water (which has finally cleared up)....and I found some fish closer to the ICW/clearer water. 2 small flounder, 1 rat red, and 1 slot redfish (about 22") that came home for dinner Weather was killer too.
hearing fantastic stories of boat limits out of Belmar. Porgys running wild as well. Not so much for Sea Bass. Blackfishing just starting. Headed out 12/9-10 for an offshore trip hopefully.
I was supposed to fly up tommorrow to spend Thanksgiving at my brother's, and go striper fishing on wednesday..... but I've been sick all week (flu?) so I'm not getting on the plane
charkbait.com with some BF deals..... 15% off reels, so I just ordered myself a Seigler SGN slowpitch edition lefthand (trying to see if a lefty helps my gimpy wrist)
If I get anymore gear, wifey has threated the existence of my testicles with a sharp object. p.s.: I did manage a Dark Matter 7' MH Blackfish rod..
Went offshore yesterday.... Hi-Speed trolled for wahoo for a bit and went 0/1 Bottom bumped the rest of the day. A mixed bag, but on the slow-pitch I did bag a decent cobia (39"?), Amberjack (pushing 35-40lbs) and a trigger fish... saw blackfin tuna busting everywhere, so I put on a yo-zuri bullpopper.... got 2 bonitas instead (false albacore) .... luckily I was able to yank the 2nd one from the approaching shark and save my plug
went the following thursday.... we trolled all day. Went 0/1 on wahoo again. Did get 7 Blackfin tunas at least. I wanted to drop my jig on the ledge when seeing the depthfinder but got shot down. I'm sure there was a grouper down there... This time of year, we have to take advantage of weather opportunities
Mother Nature was dead set against offshore fishing this fall so far. Multiple trips cancelled as the pattern calls for storms every weekend. Headboats are going to have a lean winter if this keeps up.
yeah, same here, especially with all the hurricanes.... hadnt been offshore in a couple of months, so I was grateful for the invites, and readily took off work I know the stripers were super thick this fall up there. Day before (and day of) Thanksgiving were super flat, and had plans to get one with my brother on his "new" boat.... then got that RSV shit (I guess, it wasnt covid) and ended up spending Thanksgiving alone. He pulled the boat from the water the next week, to prep for winter... MAY try to kayak fish the flats tomorrow afternoon... rain and cold coming rest of the week (yes, cold in FL... high temp is supposed to be 41 on xmas eve day
Yeah.. The season is pretty much over here too. Blackfishing is going on but usually between storms. Couple that with light catches and its a signpost saying you're done for '22. That's fine because by next Apr/May, there's gonna be slaughters going on most weekends once the water warms again. Between now and then, I'll just get the snowblower prepped, load up on ethanol free gas and lay low. Prepped my boat too. Got it in storage and had the fuel pump replaced. I plan on a lot more freshwater fishing in '23 as those trips to the Jersey Shore are getting painfully expensive with gas and boat fares. Also plan on some surfcasting as well. All in all, there will be some change in when, where, how and what I'm fishing for in '23.
