what really sucks is that if we didnt fuck up a 2nd time drafting a QB which its looking more and more like we did, then we could very well be superbowl contender right now
The Shanahan system is a lot more versatile than you are giving it credit for. QBs that have found success in this system come in all shapes, sizes and styles. From RGIII, to Cousins to Matt Ryan and everywhere in between. Fields would have been fine in this system as well as open up even more of the playbook. With regards to Zach, he has has accuracy, ball placement & decision making issues that go beyond scheme and/or coaches forcing him to play their way.
what i wish someone would ask at the press conference is if Zach is making all those easy screen passes in practice. If so that means its all in his head and he cant do it the games.
I actually questioned this Sunday, but the question is not for the Jets, it’s for Zach. During a bye the players get the first week off. It’s incumbent on the layer to stay out of trouble and keep their body in shape during that week. The players that truly care are studying and training during the week, but they don’t have to. My suspicion is Zach flew out to see his family and probably never even thought of football. He sure looked that way.
maybe we should just quit draftng QBs. In 2018 the top 7 picks all made the pro bowl except for Darnold and Mayfield. What a waste.
It is an odd decision if benching Zach is performance based. The Jets have a win-now team. Why would you not go back to a Super Bowl champion like Joe Flacco to lead them if you are truly benching Zach because they want to win? No one wants Mike White to fall on his face, but he definitely could. Hopefully not against a weak Bears defense, but Minnesota? Buffalo? Seattle? Miami? Yikes!
I don’t believe anyone wants that . We want this team to win above all. The question that trouble most people is this. What is the long term answer for this team and how will we know. Benching Zach at this point is not indicative of what the long term plan is. Some want Strev and might scream for him next if White falters. That is not the way to run a team. So let’s hope the very best for White and get this ship back on track.
of course, they have all that info on White, yet started with Flacco when Wilson was injured, White is nearly as static as Flacco, in this system a mobile QB is an added bonus, Streveler is at least that, look, I am in no doubt he is nothing more than a backup at best but do you really think he couldn't have gotten more than a FG on the board v the patsies?
flacco was a super bowl champion ten years ago. he's not close to that player any more and we dont have a ray rice to carry him to the promised land minni, seattle, and miami have mediocre, at best, defenses
Christ, Chris Simms is so upset, he literally does a tweet-by-tweet of EVERY pass he threw in the Patriots came to defend him.
This is correct. I like White fine but he's not the future here. If for no other reason than he gets injured every game and doesn't have the arm to win in the elements. He can get us wins right now against teams like Chicago though. The truth is, if we back into the playoffs I'd rather have Flacco start than White. Of course, if that happens we'll probably start Zach.
i believe some want that people are speaking as if hes going to suck and that he is a worse option than the worst rated qb in the league based on what? a 3+ game sample size?? instead of saying, okay, lets see what hes got, hes already being written off ... its weird
I'm no Booger fan but it was disingenuous of Young to act like he was impartial while obviously very partial to ZW due to at least their BYU experiences and probably more. He should have kept his mouth shut IMO or said publicly he has a special relationship to ZW etc--not act like a moral superior.
