Why da fuck would you put him back in if the Jets keep winning? I think Zach has a future with the Jets... just not a good one.
This feels like a move for the locker room. Saleh showed the locker room that the team comes first. Hopefully we see an energized team Sunday. He also made it very clear that this isn't a permanent benching. If White bombs (which he may), he can go right back to Zach and not really face much backlash.
I am stoked for this. Fixing Zach might not be finished this season. We neef to fight for playoffs and see what we have in Mike White before we make any big decisions in the offseason. We can also use this as an opportunity to properly evaluate our skill position players.
This could be the best thing for Zach. IF he ever is going to step up, sometime losing your job can light a fire. Or, he's done. Either way I have a feeling Moore is going to get several catches on Sunday.
Zach has been made inactive. We won't see him in the Bears game no matter what happens. Saleh called it a reset... how "great" it turns out is up to Zach's attitude and whether he can work out his mechanics.
Sorry, I meant if he bombs in the Chicago game, Zach can play the following week. I don't know how he can fix his mechanics/attitude in one week, but I guess we'll see.
It's exactly what Zach needs at this point. He needs to be able to know he isn't going to play and he needs to work on the flaws in his game. It isn't the end for him, he will get another chance to start for this team, depending on how he responds to this. In the meantime, I hope Mike White does a decent job as game-manager and helps us get the wins we need for postseason football. If he does more than that and is consistently very good, then we've got lucky.
I've time travelled back 43 years to Richard Todd vs. Matt Robinson. Get Denver on the phone..........
Yeah, “great” wasn’t my first reaction. It’s hard to disagree, but our future is still Zach Wilson, for now. Todays NFL and college football expects too much too soon from these guys. In Zach’s case, he’s been rushed due to the rest of the team making strides this season, especially the defense.
This was to be expected. After the uproar about his play and presser, young teammates talking/tweeting this was the only outcome. Glad White is getting another chance to show what he can do on a team that has better talent then the last team he played.
This should be a good lesson for ZW. Hopefully he’ll adjust and learn from this. Meanwhile hopefully White is effective and , we need wins going forward.
Zach has been horrible. But some writers are saying it is unbelievable that he will be inactive on Sunday. I couldn’t disagree more. That was the only way to go. I’m actually impressed by that decision
Zack's quote is a bit disingenuous. Watching the presser, you can tell this was Saleh giving a general example of what any player would do if they were told they were benched. Saleh never said those were Zach's exact words but the beat is running with them as if they are without context. I'm shocked. /s
It's not legit. Classic Jets beat taking a vague out-of-context quote from Saleh about any player being upset about being benched and making it a thing.
He’s not being rushed, he’s playing terribly. How are they rushing his development? He’s way behind where he should be right now. Waaaaaaaaay behind. If our record was 0-10 he still should be benched for his lack of progress. If anything our team success has hidden the fact that Zach has been so alarmingly bad, hence the knuckleheads that were like “but Zach is 5-2”.
