So @KO'B bumped "The Case For Mac Jones" thread over in the Draft Forum from 2021. I re-read it and found @boozer's OP interesting: In re-reading this it does describe what we've seen of the type of offense MLF is running, maybe not exactly but very similar. And it puts into context some of the early struggles Zach has had, but also shows that obviously JD, Saleh, and MLF knew what they were going to be asking of Zach and had faith he could master. Despite some ups and downs they've stuck with him and he's showing progress and they show no signs of making a change at QB. While some might argue - and I'm sure they will - that Mac Jones would've been the better choice given the requirements of this offense, and while at the time I also suggested that Jones would be my favorite if the Jets traded back, Zach's physical traits - great arm, quick release, mobility - made him the better pick for the long run. I think that's why JD took him at #2, and I think he's developing according to plan.
Is this the Justin Fields thread now? He just took off for nearly 70 yards on 3rd & 2 in the 4th Q of a tied game. Currently has 160 yards on 11/17 passing, 140 yards rushing, threw a pick 6, and 4 total TDs (2 pass, 2 rush) DET driving and threatening to take the lead. Fun game.

There is no question that Fields has been the worst QB in the league the last two years. Just look at this graphic from a couple of weeks ago. But the measure of a franchise QB is not what they do their first two years. But, the last few weeks Fields has been a monster. A one man wrecking crew. Who wrecks the offense with a negative play then follows it up with an obscene run wrecking the defense. Fields is incredibly explosive running the ball. He is a home run threat every time he turns up field. Since the Bears changed the offense to feature Fields running the ball he is borderline unstoppable. This opens up the passing game for him. He looks really good to me when I watch him play. I hate it when we play running QBs and I am not looking to our game against the Bears. My biggest question is how long can Fields keep taking these big hits. It seems every game he gets a at least one monster hit where he never sees the guy coming. He might not have the arm that other QBs have but man those legs make everything better. If they can find a way to protect him and get him to stop fumbling at such a ridiculous rate he could be a MVP candidate in a few years.
Whut? Lol. Dude…. The worst QB in the league? Have you watched him at all? He’s on the verge of putting together the best running QB year of all time. He just put together back to back 140+ yard rushing games. I don’t really feel like going back into this debate but this is pretty silly.
Chicago just lost to Detroit let's relax on Justin just a bit. At this point In his career he is a running back playing QB.
Daboll used Daniel Jones first interception to teach him a lesson when he ripped him apart on the sidelines and it turned into them being 7-2 with one of the most talentless rosters in the NFL. So your point is a dumbfuck one as usual.
Fields certainly presents defenses with a huge challenge, just like Lamarr did, but sooner or later defenses will find a way to slow him down. Maybe they can't stop him entirely, but if that's the only offense the Bears have they're in trouble. I hope Fields does well. He's a fighter and never quits, but I'm still happy we took Zach over him because in the long run I think Zach will be the better pro QB.
The Giants have somehow managed to combine Gase's luck in one score games in Miami with his luck in getting the 2019 Jets second-half schedule. The Giants remaining schedule is also fairly soft, so they'll probably finish 11-6ish, but it's like 90% luck.
The only way to slow down Lamar is to hope he gets hurt. Otherwise he wins 73% of the games he plays in. So your statement doesn’t make much sense. No one has figured Lamar out.
Gase won a bunch of bullshit games down the stretch. Daboll has been winning a lot of games he’s coaching to start his career with a terrible roster. If you watch the games he’s winning versus Gase you’d see there’s a night and day difference. 3/7 of their wins have been against teams with a winning record as well. And then they’ve also beaten the Packers who are generally a tough win.
For sure there's a night and day difference between Daboll and Gase, Daboll is a good coach and Gase is terrible. But they aren't 7-2 because of his brilliant coaching, they're a .500ish team even with Daboll that's 7-2 because of luck. If people think this sort of luck will continue in the long run, they're setting themselves up for disappointment.
It doesn’t matter. The idea is that Daboll’s talent level will improve in the the future so his coaching won’t have to level the playing field so much. Not sure what you’re getting at.
The record for QB rushing yards in a season was held by Bobby Douglass of the Bears for decades. He rushed for 968 yards and 8 TD's in 1972 with a 6.9 YPA. The Bears went 4-9-1 that season.
