I hate to break it to you but as much as Zach showed progress last week, one thing he’s not very good at is working through his progressions past the first or second guy. Again, Moore is our 5th best receiving option at best right now. You’re implying that the coaches are wasting a spot on the field in a live game deliberately just to punish Moore. Essentially going to a 10 man offense- just to punish Moore. For 5 straight games no less. The coaches care about winning, and putting the best guys out there to win. Moore isn’t one of those guys. My suspicion is Moore walked into this season thinking he was a hot shot because he had mild success as a rookie and now reality has smacked him right between the eyes. He’s just not that good yet. Hopefully it motivates him, but right now he’s just crying like a baby.
They're not wasting a spot - they're using him to run clear out routes. If he was as bad as you say, then they'd just play Mims, who is a far better blocker than Moore and could run the same clear out routes. Also, where a receiver is in a progression changes from play to play. If you're correct, then when Garret Wilson moves to the outside, then he will start having 0 targets because he'll be last in the progression and Zack will never get to him. Do you really believe that Garret Wilson will become a non-entity in the offense once he moves outside?
I think you're correct - it is a test of wills. I believe that the Jets have told Moore that unless he gives 100% on all plays, even ones where's he's just running a clear out route, then he won't get the ball and may not get the snaps. The timing of this all happening right after Zack comes back and throws an interception because Moore didn't run his clear out route, strongly suggests that the coaching staff is trying to send Moore a message. Also, he had 4 targets in that Pittsburgh game - and they were the only targets he's had in the past 6 weeks. That's just too much of a coincindence.
No, because wherever Garrett Wilson is, I can assure you he’s the primary read 80% of the time. Where Garrett stands on the field is irrelevant to his # of targets. He’s the best playmaker on offense by far. When Davis is in he gets looks because Zach trusts the veteran to get open quickly. Mims is playing in Davis’ spot, so Zach is comfortable with the routes Mims runs since he’s comfortable with Davis running them. Again, whenever Moore is on the field at best he’s the #3 option. More often than not he’s the 4th or 5th. Zach doesn’t get that far into his progressions very often. Even if a WR doesn’t get the ball, their routes are precisely designed in a symbiotic manner. But every single play call is designed with a progression of who to look for. Unless it’s a screen or some quick pass, Garrett Wilson is probably the first look. Moore is not. It’s not that I dont think Moore is good, he’s just not as good as Wilson/Davis/Breece/Carter/Conklin at being reliable and getting open. So the coaches design the plays where Zach is reading progressions from A to Z, and Moore is Z. We went from having only Davis and Moore as options last year to now having a major dearth of them, and Moore finds himself going from being the #2 with no one around to the #5. Thank you Joe Douglas, this is exactly what good teams do. Moore can either keep pouting or start doing the things he needs to do to rise in the list.
If any coach uses a single play in a season to teach a player a lesson rather than to try to win a game, that coach deserves to be banished forever.
It's not running just to run if your opponent is weak against the run, it's exploiting a weakness. You are trying to say that the Jets switched to the run because that's what the defense was giving them. That's a nice notion, except teams usually script their first couple of drives, and the first 12 plays (2 drives) that the Jets offense ran yielded 3 runs and 9 passes, resulting in 3 points total. That's not what the Pats were giving them, that was the game plan.
Well then a bunch of hall of fame coaches deserve to be banished forever. Do you remember what Parcells would do if somebody fumbled? They would often end up sitting for a fair amount of time - so he was using a bunch of plays in a season to teach a player a lesson. I think Bellicheck does the same thing. Coaches have to maintain control - players can't just do whatever they want without consequences. That's a recipe for anarchy and a nightmare of a locker room. If you have to take a player that decides that he doesn't want to run clearout routes for his teamates, then is a coach simply supposed to ignore that and let that player's selfishness adversely affect the performance of the team?
Parcells never wasted a play to punish anyone. Putting the guy you discuss on the bench does not adversely affect the team - quite the opposite, in fact. But you certainly never keep a productive guy off the field to teach a lesson to a malingerer.
Once again, attacking the poster, not the content of the post. Your life must really suck to have nothing better to do than cruise message boards only to post, without comment, stupid juvenile memes that have nothing to do with anything topic related.
While I think this is going on, I also think that another aspect of Moore not getting targets is that he simply isn't running good routes and being where he's supposed to be, or being there on time. I think if he was doing that the CS wouldn't tell Zach to freeze him out (if that's actually what happened).
Yep, benching the guy is part of football called discipline and responsibility. Putting a guy on the field and not utilizing him is a waste of a player position when you can use that spot for a productive player.
I'd take you a bit more seriously if you hadn't repeatedly insulted me for not pursuing a formal education. Hypocrite.
You bragged about quitting school, claiming you didn't need it. I simply reminded you from time to time when you revealed you may have needed it more than you care to admit. It's your own crowing that opened you up to such examination. Nonetheless, you have shown for a couple of years now, like a pesky gnat, that there are times when you have nothing better to do than attach inane memes, Tweets and quotes, etc, without comment, to posts I have made that do nothing to address the topic at hand but rather are simply feeble attempts to attack me personally. You have essentially just admitted the childish behavior. Have it your way.
18 throws in the first half? You can’t be serious. So on pace for 36 throws. Also, it was 10-6 at halftime, defense let NE walk down the field and score to start second half.
