Herbig has been huge for the Jets. He made a couple of key blocks yesterday and since he's stepped in. Douglas is like a rare coin dealer he has a knack for finding hidden gems. Instead of scouring yard and estate sales he's scooping up valuable players from free-agency, the waiver wire and via trades.
Nice read on Herbig here: https://nypost.com/2022/11/11/nate-...medium=site buttons&utm_campaign=site buttons If he can keep playing at a high level, he might earn a starting spot next year. We know AVT can basically play any position well though would be nice for him to settle somewhere.
Good article but Cannizzaro states Fant is out for the season? I was under the impression he was coming off of IR after the bye?
They can easily insert AVT at OT question is which one? If Mitchell can hold down RT and Becton can’t shake the injury bug maybe AVT can slot in at LT? Or maybe make AVT RT and have Mitchell as your swing/back up OT? We don’t know what JD has in mind as Fant and Brown are FAs….
The knock on AVT playing LT long term I believe is that he has short arms. But, he does provide us with a ton of flexibility. My guess is next year we have Becton and Mitchell compete for RT with Becton winning and who knows who at LT? Brown and ? I have to think next year JD will have 4 viable tackles plus AVT at guard and tackle insurance and Herbig backing him up. We also need to resign McGovern or find a replacement.
We’re putting our best 5 on the field, if Becton is healthy, he’s on the field. Mitchell has never played a game at LT. Brown will not be a FA. Depending when he comes back I’m guessing we sign Fant to a 1yr contract so he can get some playing time and boost his value for a 2024 contract.
Well then it depends if JD can negotiate a new deal …. Brown is going to be what 38? Alot will depend on Fant’s status, Becton health, and maybe another FA move.
They might but there are scenarios where they might not have to depending on FA decisions. Not counting center of course. If JD chooses not to resign McGovern he’ll have to draft a center and I imagine it will be in the higher rounds …
