The secret is the team playing hard for 60 minutes with no quit. They're very resilient and react well to adversity. Gotta give the coaching staff credit, since these characteristics are rare for a young team.

The offense seems to be different in the 4th quarter. A couple of our big drives this season have seemed to be completely different than how we schemed the rest of the game. Today, we decided to run the ball down their throats to an extent we haven't tried all year.

Our 3rd-quarter scoring margin is stlll one of the worst in the NFL this year, so I can't chalk it all up to halftime adjustments. But the staff and players deserve a lot of credit anyway.

Really good defense coupled with an OL that gets stronger as the game goes on.

It’s easy to make play calls on a 4th quarter drive when you’re pulling off 10+ yard runs at will. The OL was absolutely MAULING on the game winning drive.

You mean the rotation plan that some of the literati here were up in arms about before the season and calling it stupid and wanting the DC fired. Well, that criticism circled down the toilet like the big turd that it was. D planning has been lights out.

Well the Jets were the worst defense in the NFL last year using the same plan and basically the same people.

What's made them top 5 this year is the enormous improvement in the defensive secondary and real improvement in the LB corps.

Yes to all that but keeping the rotation is key. JJ was one of the saviors today.

MLF is a great play designer. He’s made incredible halftime adjustments as well. His flaw is that he doesn’t coach down to his players. Zach’s clearly not ready for the entire playbook and when he puts the reigns on Zach the entire team plays better. He needs to understand he can’t call 40+ pass plays for this kid no matter how mismatched the defense is to our passing game. It’s pretty clear that he worked with Zach this week and drilled him on staying in the pocket and not breaking the play design and everyone was better for it.

Actually, the rotation plan that had all the fans here concerned was the one that Ulrich described as giving equal time to all the players. That's the one that Saleh walked back very quickly and never saw the light of day. That whole fiasco probably had more to do with a poor explanation from the start because I doubt that any coach would keep his job very long playing his weakest link as much as his strongest one.

for the most part it seems end of halves and games have been pretty strong...maybe the message is being communicated and the players are able to execute these important phases

It seems the OL saves their best for last I have noticed that. Although on the other hand it could be that they have been wearing down the DL for the afternoon and by the fourth quarter the OL has a stamina edge. After the first four running plays on the Jets last drive you can clearly see 2 or 3 Buffalo defenders standing with hands on hips - looking very deflated and tired ….

They really rammed it down Buffalo's throat... 8 straight runs from our 4 yard line-
    1st&10 - J. Rob 9 yds.
    2nd&1 - J. Rob 7 yds.
    1st&10 - J. Rob 16 yds.
    1st&10 - M. Cart 22 yds.
    1st&5 - M. Cart 4 yds. (Bills penalty)
    2nd&1 - M. Cart 15 yds.
    1st&10 - J. Rob 3 yds.
    2nd&7 - J. Rob 2 yds.

Then Mims snagged the 3rd&5 bullet from Zach.
It would have been great to get 7 (or 8 ;)) there... but 3 points was enough.

The Von Miller sack forced the Bills to use a time out... further crippling their effort to tie/win the game.
Just a great example of power football and chewing up the clock to close out a hard fought game.

My only complaint is that they didn't make the over...

Exactly. The Ground and Pound running game is exhausting opposing defenses till they roll over for mercy. Saleh's edict "Just keep taking them out to the deep water until they realize they can't swim" is proving to be the deadly weapon that earns victories for Gang Green.
