For sure... I'm beyond surprised at the stunning turnaround.
Last season you & I went back & forth on the defensive scheme when it wasn't yielding results.

Something definitely clicked this year... I think it's a combination of players understanding their role along with better communication.
Tweaking the D-line and laying off the blitz helped immensely.

Players are now in a better position to make impactful plays... that's important.

Add in D.J. Reed and a little Sauce on top and we have the recipe for a top 5 defense.

The team has turned the corner. The QB is the open question.

Right now we're fairly close to where the Jets were in 2009 and 2010. We've got a good run game and a very solid defense and the thing holding us back at the moment is that once the QB is asked to do anything but manage the game things fall apart due to turnovers.

we lacked talent especially with injury. pass rush wasn't there and getting lawson back, plus JJ, plus huff getting better, plus martin (before we traded him) was huge. not to mention Q getting better and swapping out foley in FA and letting rankins play more. plus the back end got better. hall and echols were solid last year but sauce and reed are elite which means more time for the rushers to hit home. mosley looks much better this year too. last year we had other tams PS players starting for us and a lot of big plays were bad communication. it's amazing when you have talent and a cohesive unit how much smoother it runs. this is why I didn't want to blame ulbrich. clearly his system works

    Nice summation...

Watching the game again this morning I saw our defense playing fast...gang tackling... putting hard hits on Bills receivers & runners.
And they are playing hard for 4 quarters.

There were a few mistakes... some critical. Josh Allen's runs should have been sniffed out better.
On one... Mosely bit hard on the fake... giving up contain on the edge... on another Q was escorted wide on his rush opening up a big gap that Allen exploited.

But overall the defense is playing fierce & fast and having a blast while doing it.

And this is the best tackling I've seen from them in years.

They're taking a moment to setup the tackle.

This also has downsides because that moment they take to line it up sometimes lets the runner get a yard he really needed.

Sometimes that may be true, but overall their tackling is much surer.

They sure couldn't tackle Josh Allen.

He almost won the game with his legs.
Happily the Jets got fed up with that shit in the second half.

There were some calls that were curious. espcially the lack of a spy on allen. i'm guessing the gameplan was to make him win with his legs rather then being passed all over.
also FWIW the guy who could have tackled allen on his TD run was the victim of an illegal block in the back that wasn't flagged. not saying they would of made the tackle and I don't remember who it was, but the illegal block in the back was there for sure which left it wide open.

If you're talking about Josh's 2nd touchdown at 6:35 2nd quarter... Saffold #76 grabbed & held the back of Sauce's jersey as he peeled off the block to chase Allen.... literally stopped Sauce in his tracks.

As usual... the sideline ref was 12 feet away looking right at it...

Here's a crummy pic from my crummy TV...

But some people think the refs called a fair game, while others were glad they kept their flags in their pockets. SMH.

Josh Allen is pretty fast... and I don't know if Sauce could have caught him and made a tackle... but he sure could have dove and swept his ankles.

But that's beside the point... it was an obvious hold... directly in front of the sideline ref...

Take a look... I'd like another opinion.

lol I didn't catch that at 1st glance. the one I seen was on our DE in the backfield. you can see it better on the replay when they show the angle behind the QB.

We do have one last Ghost to vanquish before we can truly say we've turned the corner.. its time to defeat Belichek and do it convincingly. They are the last vestiges of the Same Old Jets and if we want to exorcise that demon for good? This is how we do it..

Crazy to think this team could have been 7-2 and #1 seed if we had beaten the patriots. I hope they win this revenge game against the pats.

    Hughes is a fanboi douche

the Jets are the 5th best team in the conference right now. Only 1 game from being out of the playoffs and half the conference makes it. Lets not throw a fucking parade
