My turning point was this game. There were some pretty fortuitous wins previously, from the miracle against the Browns to facing backup and third string QBs or a gimpy Packers team. It made it very hard to tell if these wins were for real, or if it was a mirage that would fade as the season wore on. This is the first win against a legitimate team with the starting QB in place, and a divisional rival no less. Going into this bye, I actually see a playoff berth in the future this season, and will probably be disappointed if we miss out now. I never thought I'd have that expectation a few months ago. This team reminds me of the 2010 Jets, except with more talent across all levels at defense.
And signing DJ Reed. Like mixing the right ingredients into the perfect recipe. DJ + this rookie class = whole new Jets
I do think that win in Cleveland was a turning point. Getting a miraculous win early with a big 4th Qtr has really set the tone for this season. The 4th Qtr in Pitt during Zach’s first start was another turning point. I really hope the loss vs NE could be another turning point. I loved hearing what Saleh had to say about that loss after the Buffalo game. He said they all felt that they gave that one away, which is the sign of a good team when you start feeling like you’re giving away wins. I really hope we stomp the Pats after the bye which will set up a super interesting finish to the year, not only competing for a WC but potentially the division.
I think the turning point was the moment that Quinnen Williams almost ripped off Aaron Whitecotton's head and shat down his neck.
Watching the post game, Garrett Wilson and Michael Carter were both really fun interviews. G Wilson looks like he's about 12 years old and he seems so happy and so surprised by the team's success. I don't mean surprised as in lack of confidence more like look at us go. Seems like a sweet kid. Carter (RB) was downright shy having a mic in his face, smiles all over the place, "We're good. We're really good." They are buying in and it showed yesterday.
I'm upset that I have to wait 2 weeks to watch Jets football. Never had that feeling of being excited for this team in a long time. This team is fun to watch on both sides of the ball.
It's funny, I understand what you're saying, but I think the key to the culture change has been JD. In other words, it's the players that changed the culture. All coaches, in general, say the same stuff. But it's the character of the players, that establish culture. These young kids all seem to have a TEAM first mentality, aside from one with the initials EM. That's not to say Saleh isn't a part of it, but in this case, I see the players leading the coaches. Just one case in-point -- Mims. He had a tough season last season, & the coaches made it much worse. Then, he worked hard off-season, to get into top shape & did everything right. He was rewarded with no opportunity in TC, & being deactivated when real play started. When EM went mindnumb, & CD got injured, he finally got his opportunity, & he's generally played well. That's not coaching, that's character & self-discipline. And I give JD credit for drafting him, for knowing his worth to the team, & not giving him away for nothing.
I'm really not sure what the turning point is for me. Somewhere around week 4-5 I guess. I know the Dolphins had a backup QB, but the Jets obliterated them in a way we really haven't seen in a long time. It kind of showed everyone that this is not the same old Jets. The Packers and Broncos game established that this is a top tier elite defense. Patriots barely squeaked by despite the Jets turning the ball over a million times. And then yesterday the Jets while only winning by 3, really bludgeoned the Bills. I think this might just be a good to great team that needed a few weeks to iron out the kinks.
DJ Reed saying players and coaches need to have a meeting to talk about communication. After that our D starting playing like a top D in the league.
For me I guess it was yesterday. The response from the patriots game. Major adjustments , I just hope they have found their offensive strength (which was clearly not the game plan vs the pats)and continue to build on it.
I think another turning point was that the brutal game that Zach played against the Patriots. Maybe, now he finally sees that this "hero" thing isn't happening. Yesterday he got back to basics. 101.1 passer rating and shaved his snap to throw down to a career low 2.31 seconds. Baby steps. You have to walk before you can run. He took a nice stroll yesterday in preparation for a nice run in the play-offs.
Saleh "taking receipts" line seem to have put a charge in the players. Don't remember what week it was perhaps 2nd or 3rd week.
Love all these!!! Enjoyed reading thru them. Not sure if this is 'real', but Refs seem to be giving Jets some calls they would NEVER have gotten when we sucked. Case in point is that last play against Buffalo. Respect maybe? Anyways...lovin it!
I agree that for the most part all coaches say the same thing... but that is to the cameras. When the cameras are off and it's just the coach and the team, or the coach and a unit or the coach and an individual player, I guarantee there are vast differences between philosophies and approaches. The best coaches get to know their players as individuals and know which ones need a fatherly arm around the shoulder and which need a drill sergeant. A lot of coaches are the same no matter which player they are dealing with and it is difficult to make that work. And some people can teach and some people can't - we all know that from school. I don't know for certain about Saleh yet, but I'm starting to get a good vibe.
Let me just say something here. It's not really in response to your post but it just seemed like just as good a place as any to put it. After the Jets finished their typical turtling against the Cheats last week did anyone besides me witness Bill Cowher's infuriating sycophantic spit-filled post-game speech about the genius of Bill Belislob? It was nauseating. The only thing missing in that scripted pre-game (not post-game) blow job, I mean, snow job, was Belislob creating a cheating Master Race. Accolades, the ball licking, it was as if Jim Nantz had died and taken over his body. Everyone was just kind of staring at him like dude, take it easy. Well, fck Bill Cowher for life now. It was just as bad and is as high on my shit list as when Bob Costas had The Slob on the hot seat with his "exclusive interview" after Spygate and soft-balled him. I don't belong to social media but if the Jets win I hope every Jets fan on the face of the Earth heckles the living shit out of Cowher. It was really that bad, and I lost quite a few notches of respect for him. Boomer was this close to saying didja forget about the, um, cheating? Please for the love of God will somebody one day have the courage to just laugh and say it out loud on the air live. Oh, my God, go Jets.

It was when JetsFan58 (David) died and you found my needle in a haystack: Johnny (no last name out of respect for privacy). It's OK if you don't remember, it's just that I have a mind like a camera and I remember everything. It'll be 15 yrs on 11/14 since David passed, that's crazy. I hope all is well with you!
