Would have been interesting to see how BB would have reacted to Eric if we had actually won this game. I don't buy the hug for a minute and thought putting Vinny in there at the end showed no class at all. I hope and pray next year that the Jets do a little extra in putting it to the Pats, but lets face it, Eric has too much class for that. And Vinny, please. You should be more thankfull that most Jets fans like you. Next week: GO CHARGERS!!!
I guess I am one of the few people that don't believe it was a shot. I think Belichek wanted Brady to get an individual ovation from the homecrowd and they figured they might as well throw in Vinny.
Interesting. You might be right, but I think Brady would have had enough of an ovation after taking a knee.
I think Vinny really enjoys being in the huddle with the guys even if it is only to take a knee. Its nice for Vinny to get in there. He's one of our all-time faves.
I don't blame BB at all. I wouldn't even shake Man-vagina's hand. he's a rat...and he broke the coaches code of honor!
I didn't give a second thought about the hug. He's a socially awkward guy, so whatever he does is going to be a tad creepy. The Vinny kneeldown was CLEARLY intent on rubbing something in the eyes of Jets fans. He's not dumb enough to not think that it would be thought innocent, so there can be no way it's not an intended shot.
And what was that? Leaving the team that you work for to go to another team in the division? or was it trying to take a few assistents on his way? Dam that sounds awfully familiar.
Yeah, but Vinny is the veteran guy and maybe Bill just wanted to throw him out there. Really no one will ever know the answer to this. Its all a matter of opinion.
He did it too piss off Jets fans. End of story. He's paid to be a good coach, not an upstanding character of high morals and values. Threads like these give Patriot fans something to snicker at.
The knee by Vinny was not a shot to the Jets players, Mangini and his staff but it was certainly a shot at Jets fans.
Would you blame BB for taking Hess's million dollars and then not honoring it? The man is a coaching Genius, who should rot in hell.
Testaverde was the 3rd QB today. So if BB wanted to give Brady the opportunity to get an ovation, why didn't he put in his backup??? And it's not like Testaverde never played in or won a playoff game before. It was a clear shot at the Jets and I'm surprised that Testaverde agreed. It showed no class on BB's part or Testaverde's. Again, it shows that Testaverde is unhappy himself with the Jet organization for benching him multiple times (deservedly so) now - in 2002 for Pennington, in 2003 when Pennington returned, and last year for Bollinger. So all you folks that adore this guy for the one good year he put up, think about what message he sent to you today.
The only shot at the Jets I really care about was the final score. The only way to truly hurt BB is beat him consistently on the field, which I feel like at the very least this team is closer to becoming a major threat than they were a year ago.
I know this will be sacrilege on the board, but hiring Vinny to join his team was the kiss of death for Belichick in 2006/7.
i'm a little pissed at Vinny too. I just wish we KNEW why it was him that went in. Whose idea was it. I mean cmon, you think Vinny would ask to go in and take the knee? I couldn't believe that.
I don't think there's that many people here who sweat Vinny Testeverde. The ones who do are most likely very young, or became fans when Vinny was here. As far as the kiss of death, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the Pats playoff run turns out.
