The problem is this-you’re fighting to compare a #2 overall draft pick with someone who was drafted in the 6th round and cut from his original team. Mike White is not a good QB, you’re right. What a shame that it’s even debatable that Zach is worse.

It’s really not debatable. Jets fans that have an infatuation w mike white are the only ones that do it.

    Exactly

if Zach was showing signs of progress no one would be talking about how he compares to Darnold or White or Sanchez or Flacco

problem is he is still making the same mistakes he’s made all along, the actual numbers show that he’s basically the same, no matter how much people may want to massage the stats

I’m not even demanding top ten QB right now

I just want competence and I want to see progress and I want to see him ascend to at least midpack in key metrics

    I don’t think that’s asking too much

but so far we have been winning without hi and as soon as we lost ABT and Hall and Davis he went to shit.

niw granted any team would hurt to lose their top three players at each spot, but the issue is Zach played like shit against NE and that was a winnable game with even halfway decent QB play

even if we had his measly 120 yards and no picks that we saw against GB and Denver, we win that game

he threw 6 picks in those three starts ... the other 2 came in mop up duty when he came off of the bench

if he is as bad as you say he is, you shouldnt have to misrepresent his performances

he’s shown some good, and some bad … it’s way too early to write him off imo

nobody is saying zach has played well. what is being said is he's still better then white, flacco, or streveler. the idea we have a better chance to win with one of those 3 is beyond stupid. strevler couldn't even start in the CFL. white has been in the league 5 years and bounced around and couldn't start anywhere and in his 3 starts looked poor. he has no ceiling to be a legit starter. flacco was an average vet who is washed up and can't move behind out weak o-line.

based on what exactly? his 5 year sin the league and only earning 3 starts and bing on 3 teams already? his game film where he can't do anything but dump offs and has 0 mobility? his 1-2 record in his 3 starts? his 5TD and 8INT career ratio?

Sadly it is based on watching ZW over the last 18 games he has played. White may not be a particularly good QB although some things stand out from a performance perspective but ZW is clearly a bad QB at this point in his career.

No, he really hasn't shown anything. At the ABSOLUTE BEST, he is a backup QB that won't mess up a game for you, which I don't think is true.

His average depth of target last year in his four games was 6.4 yards per target. That puts him at 42nd out of 42 qualifiers. That indicates he is a CHECKDOWN KING. I've been told that his CHECKDOWN KING nature is all fine and dandy, except he has a 6.1% interception rate in the 4 games he has played. That 6.1% rate is DOUBLE Zach Wilson's rate. Mike White is a checkdown king but turns the ball over at an absurd rate.

Hypothetically, let's say Mike White cuts down on the turnover rate. Defenses are going to key in on this and make him throw it deep on them, forcing all of us to see how limited Mike White is in the arm talent department.

I get it, Zach Wilson played like shit on Sunday and quite frankly, had a bad game against Denver as well, but this discourse going around that the Jets should see what Mike White has or that Mike White has a chance to start next year is unequivocally ABSURD. Zach Wilson is lightyears more talented than Mike White ever will be. I won't defend Zach, but this Mike White talk is ridiculous.

Zach Wilson has a history of substandard to pedestrian play in the NFL interrupted only briefly on rare occasions by a few series or a quarter of decent productive play. Everything about his talent and future in the NFL is based on hypotheticals.

There is rarely a QB3 active for an NFL game - to slip one in for gadget plays would require the starter and backup to both get knocked out of the game.

thats not the point. the point is do we have a better option and the answer is no. he's the youngest and best QB currently on our roster and we can't find anything better ATM so benching him is a knee jerk reaction from dumb fans

We do have a better option to get our offense playmakers the ball in the space. That’s obviously Mike White.

Between Mike White and Zach Wilson, Zach Wilson’s ceiling is astronomically higher than Mike White’s. If you can’t see that, you can’t be helped.

They’re never going to get it.

Maybe they’re related to Mike White?

You are entitled to your opinion, no doubt one formed before he ever appeared in an NFL game. Help yourself.

Are you really comparing a guy with all the years of experience that Flacco has to Zach? SMH.

Not really. I wanted the Jets to take Justin Fields.

Zach Wilson's arm talent is astronomically better than Mike White's. If you cannot see that watching the games, I don't know what to tell you. Zach Wilson can make throws on deep 7's to the opposite hash mark. Only a select few QBs can make that throw. The talent is there for him.

I don't get the hype with White. Overall the guy has been pretty bad. If it wasn't for the fact Flacco can't get out of a pocket to save his life white would still be 3rd string. At this point, if Wilson is getting yanked id rather see Strev get a run. The dude couldn't lose in the preseason. Yes, I know what he was playing again but the guy had a never quit attitude and out played White by a mile.

I didn't say anything about his arm talent - I'm talking about his ability as an NFL quarterback in total. Consistency is everything.
