I'm kind of shocked that we never hear about it being used here when we hear a tremendous amount of hype and fluff in the offseason about everything that is being done to bring players along. I could see it being used very specifically with somebody programming in propensities of a specific team's defense each week. If it was being used to any great degree within the league wouldn't it be pretty well known by now?
Yeah they're sprouting a lot this week for obvious reason. Probably get half a dozen more before Saturday.
Zach hasn't sucked? Come on. He doesn't play with great confidence and who knows after last Sunday where his remaining confidence level is at. LaFleur is gonna do everything but let Zach chuck it around against the Bills.
He can't see the field, so he has to step back to get a larger depth of vision. Unfortunately, he's too small guys. JD knows it already.
Justin Fields in hindsight looks a hell of a lot better. His rushing ability alone would make a huge difference for this particular offense.
Missing wide open receivers is highly concerning at this point. I don’t know why people keep bringing up MLF or our OLine. This kid missed crazy open receivers. This wasn’t some Cover 0 blitz like in the ghosts game. I mean come on, this looks really bad. I can’t imagine he drastically recovers after this.
it makes you wonder why his first thought is to abandon the damned pocket and start running backward?
And the HUGE Zach Wilson(Merged) thread was the top thread in the forum when this thread was started. Add to that, his post is saying all the same shit he said in that Wilson(Merged) thread. I guess the OP felt he wasn't getting enough attention.
This is just wrong and an all time bad take. It's like saying "The Jets haven't sucked for the last 10 years unless you're primarily focused on their record and ignoring the mitigating factors contributing to their poor performances (bad players, bad coaching, poor front office,) but in fact they have shown some top level ability which is why the GMs drafted the players and Woody and Chris Johnson hired the coaches and front office personnel. Even bad quarterbacks make good throws sometimes. Even bad quarterbacks win games now and then and will win more when they have a good team around them. Wilson has shown flashes, but those are surrounded and engulfed by bad check down throws, awful decisions, and poor pocket presence.
You may be onto something. He could be too small to see the open receivers over or around the line - why he misses the 1st read when it's open so often. He could also be too small to easily throw checkdowns over and around linemen in the pocket which is why he runs out of clean pockets so often and misses seemingly easy throws. He could also be afraid of taking hits from huge linemen because he is too small - again why he runs from a clean pocket. He could be afraid of taking hits while scrambling forward - another reason he runs back or sideways when there is any pressure... None of these are good.
I said Wilson was too small to see over the line last year after the Buffalo game and people here killed me. In general I don't necessarily think he's too small to make it work but one way QBs, especially smaller QBs get the ball out is through the gaps created in the pass blocking schemas. The O line is asked to create openings so the QB can see and throw through them. But that all gets negated if he doesn't stay in the pocket and he hasn't been.
