I think Matt Waldman is full of shit and clueless. I thought so when I watched this prior to the draft, and I think it even more now.

If he is the QB they want, then they need to let him play the way he can play best and quit this nonsense of trying to turn him into a pocket passer.

Zach was not inaccurate in college, so I have no idea why that has always been your main concern with him. Zach has totally been castrated. It's stupid and disgusting.

Well said. You should add that he's being asked/forced to play in a way that totally contrary to the way he has always played. He is not a pocket passer or a game manager. He is a rhythm QB and not being given a chance to get into a rhythm. If posters would just stop and think (if they understand anything about sports or doing something akin), that when one is asked to do something that one is not comfortable doing, one is unable to play in a free and loose style allowing his talent to take over, but is having to think too much, playing "not to lose," playing not to make a mistake, is not given the opportunity to get into a rhythm, and when coupled with the revolving door of injured players on the OL and WRs still dropping passes, it's little wonder that his fundamentals are falling apart and his accuracy has gone awry. That's basic human nature. If posters don't/can't understand that, then they know nothing about themselves or human nature. People claiming that his accuracy is poor show their ignorance. They obviously never watched him at BYU and know nothing about him. When you give them realistic reasons why Zach is struggling, they see it as excuses. IMO they're just a bunch of dumbasses who don't understand the first thing about performing as a professional. It's easy for them to sit back, drinking beer and criticizing someone else when they've never been able to do anything like that in their lives.

Utter nonsense. I saw this same post in response to a Vitor Paiva article, and it's as wrongheaded and dumb here as it was there.

This is just a horrible take. Good luck finding anyone that agrees with that nonsense.

Anyone that doesn't agree with you is a know nothing, right? They are ignorant. Just stop with that. You talk about watching him play at BYU, yet you don't watch him play with the Jets. You blame everyone and their grandmother for his play. I'm a fan of Wilson's but your posts are so cringe worthy.

Zach will get his chances to throw the ball, especially when we fall behind. But if we are ahead and grinding out a win, they are not going to let him sling the ball all over the field. Remember the game against NE last year where he went 19/33 with 4 ints? No one wants to see that again.

He was fine in the first two games back this year. Then the staff came up with a specific run heavy approach to combat the top passing defenses of GB and Denver, both on the road. And guess what? It worked. You play to win, not pad stats.

Zach has had opportunities. He had a chance to start off the game in Denver with a huge gain to Davis and he misses him by a country mile. That's on MLF? You want Mikey to throw the pass for him? MLF called some great plays that had guys wide open and Zach just missed them. There's tape that shows this but you blame the OC. He had to hit this passes.

Zach missed some throws no doubt but still completed 60 percent of his passes. All Qbs miss throws but when you throw it so little the missed throws become magnified that is why it is important to understand the context. Zach and MLF are playing smart. When your D is playing like it is and playing a really bad offense like Denver not making the big mistake is more important that than anything else.

To throw away how Zach has played overall is silly. Winning in GB is hard winning in Denver is hard.

He has not been missing throws consistently he missed throws in Denver.

He will need to step up when asked. He has answered the call so far when he needed to make a play. We will see if it continues.

lol...that's a spicy take, man. Especially considering Waldman described exactly what's unfolding on the playing field but you do you, man.

Who would have thought we would see the day that Ol' HackettStillSux himself would be defending Zach Wilson?

In his second season, coming off an injured knee that essentially eliminated any semblance of training camp, all I want out of Wilson is three things:

    1) Run the offense
    2) Win some games
    3) Don't turn the ball over
    4) Don't make dumb mistakes

With those metrics, I am ecstatic by what I see out of Wilson thus far.

Exactly, we are winning. You don't throw the ball over the yard when you are winning with defense and running game.

Young Qbs throw picks with the pressure Zach has been under he has not.

He has also consistently has come through in the 4th quarter.

Has he played great, no. Has he played how the Jets need him to play to win games, yes.

    Be happy we are 5-2.

If we are going to talk about Zach what does he need to do for the Jets to beat the Pats?

I don’t know about you guys but I’d prefer Zach being 0-4 with 4 300 yd games.

In his first four games coming off a miniscus tear, is that really horrible?

And that guarantees that he will be ranked 32 at the end of the season?

    +0
Denver he was 16-26 61% - Which I was referring

In his last three games 40-65 attempts or 62%

In the Steelers game (1st game back from injury) he through the ball more only completing 50% of his passes but had the magical fourth quarter.

I know that does not fit your argument but.

The stats that are important. Has Zach helped the team win?

Pitt- We all know what he did in the fourth Quarter - W

Miami- To big scoring drives (essentially two TD passes) - W

GB- The big pass to Corey scoring in the next play- W

Denver- Made some key fourth-quarter throws but essentially did not lose the game (WHich is what you do when playing the worst scoring offense in the NFL) --W

What are we complaining about again?
