because look where that got us…. right now I see Sanchez without the crushing turnovers he may have a stronger arm, he may be more athletic or elusive, but he’s not making the decisive reads and he’s inaccurate just like Sanchez he gets this year in my book, but if he winds up all year with 55% completion and a handful of TDs I’ll be seriously concerned because by then the sample size will be meaningful
1 He isn't cutting it though 2 I agree 3 How many rings did Sanchez win? Though in fairness he played better in the end of season games than in the regular season, with a real QB we could and should have ended our Superbowl wait with that team.
It is hard to get an upgrade midseason but for sure after the season with all this emerging talent, the Jets need to find an upgrade at QB to take the next step
We're winning because Zach is following the script. This will be his 18th start. He's still learning how to play NFL QB. Once Zach learns how to be successful playing within the system, THEN let him cut loose. Helps to be a gunslinger when you're an expert marksman. Zach isn't there yet. Maybe by his 25th start or so he'll get it.
I have to disagree. If the QB was a great leader that everyone believed in, he wouldn't have 2 of his 5 WRs asking for a trade
He hasn't shown enough to make me confident he's the answer. He has shown flashes, like the 4th quarter in Pittsburgh and the game against Tampa last year, but those have been the exception.
This: As Cotchery says..confidence has to be earned Thirty teams in this League all with different offenses/ defenses Wilson is just being himself good bad and in between I had my doubts ..but now we need to cycle him against all comers week after week to see and measure his performance and ..yes examine what keeps us winning!!! The cycle ,God willing , may take us among the Elites in the Playoffs..another measuring stick guys What works ..what doesn't . You don't bench the kid till the Ls pile up I was ready to yank him and give up ...but Zach is being handled and stair stepped hopefully to the Top!
but that's just incorrect, 1 of the active 5 are requesting trades. if you're bringing up Mims, he is asking for a trade because the coaching staff has to have an active 53-man roster and outside of Moore's request, he's been inactive for most games and he wants PT. & right now, Jeff Smith & Braxton Berrios play more important roles (including special teams) than him
One would want to do that because QB is THE most important position, and the Jets are not going to be serious contenders unless Zach has developed and playing well consistently. The way they're having him play is not developing him and is in fact, ruining him imo. It's clear that he's having to think too much, is hesitant, and perhaps afraid of making a mistake. He's clearly not playing loose, free and confidently. It would be much better to fall short of the playoffs this year and develop Zach and have him playing at a high level, than make the playoffs and kill Zach's desire to be here or cause him to lose confidence in himself.
Horrible take, Cman! He hasn't been playing hero ball except for in the 2nd half (4th Qtr). vs Pittsburgh. If he hadn't, we would have lost that game. Having him play handcuffed is what is causing his struggles. I'd bet my last dollar on that. They are ruining him.
New England is 25th in the league at stopping the run..I don't think they can stop the Jets rushing attack no matter how badly they want to. I expect more passing this week but it will be the running game that caries the day again.
With the way they're having him play, he could be demanding a trade by his 25th start or his confidence could be shot. I don't think the way they're having him play is helping him develop. It's clearly hurting him. You don't know that we wouldn't have won all these games if Zach was able to play more aggressively like he did in TC, and vs the Titans last season. I think he was even more aggressive after his injury last year than they've allowed him to be this season. Further, I HATE this type of football. I'd rather have Zach be slinging the ball all over the place and be at .500. At least the games would be fun and exciting, not this boring crap.
Well said ..a number 2 pick is special and I hear you loud and clear NC the Jets can't ruin him like Sam Darnold (your biggest fear) But I have not asked Zach if he is losing confidence or that he is ready to leave Have you my friend? So let's see what they do with him ...your take might be much different if they let him throw more long ball by mid season or even the end of 2022 He not asking for a trade Thank God lol
Mims asking for a trade has nothing to do with Wilson. It has to do with playing time. Unless Zach is in charge of that, it has nothing to do with him. Why do you keep pumping this horse crap?
Jets fans are absolutely insane lmao. We havent made the playoffs since 2010 and now we’re upset because the 4-0 23 yr old QB has only carried us to one of those wins? Seriously, that is freaking insane. He is not a finished product, he is still developing and winning while developing. Why does everyone expect him to be a finished product after 17 games?
Against my better judgment, I'll provide answers (in red above). to your points knowing in advance they won't be accepted. Continue to worry if you want, it won't change anything.
No, I haven't spoken with him. I admit it's just a fear, but I have seen the Jets ruin so many players or have them try to play in a scheme that is not conducive to their talents, and then wind up trading them away when they don't play well. We haven't had a QB since Namath with Zach's talent and ability. The way they're having him play is diametrically opposed to how Zach's skills and talents need to play. I know that if I were he, I'd be getting very frustrated. Heck, I'm already frustrated for him, if I was having to go through it, I think I'd be telling my agent to get me out of here before my career was ruined. That's why I can't be too angry with Moore. He was clearly being misused and underused. These guys are proud, competitive, and want to be great. They don't want to have second-rate careers or make a lot less money than they should. MLF had no experience as an OC or in developing QBs or WRs. He's focused on his scheme and his plays, and if they don't work, he looks bad. He may not be willing to look at himself and how he is handling players and whether what he is asking of them fit their skill sets. A lot, perhaps most, NFL coaches try to force square pegs into round holes. He hasn't seemed very flexible, willing or able to adapt his scheme to what his players do well. When he was hired he said that he was going to do that, and to change lineups based on opponents, but he hasn't. He's stuck with the same lineup except for injuries, and he is misusing players. He's probably doing the best he can, but that won't help if we wind up having to trade Mims and Moore and Zach gets ruined. What could have been a great offense that could have been together for 10 years suddenly becomes a questionable offense, and we're back to the drawing board at QB. I hope that I'm wrong that this is ruining Zach, but don't think I am.
It also has to do with the play calling and "targets", but again these are mostly out of Zach's hands. If Moore has decided that Zach just doesn't like throwing to him that's something he might want to discuss with ZW to find out why. I'm sure Wilson isn't of a mind to just not throw to a receiver if that receiver is open and can make yards.
