For what it's worth, the dude sustained a serious injury AFTER Etienne sustained a serious injury of his own last offseason and missed all of last year. Etienne was drafted when Robinson was fully healthy.
I wonder what draft compensation it would take to get Laremy Tunsil. He has one year left on his year.
... especially with the Achilles injury late last year... and he had his knee drained Saturday. Let's hope for the best... after he passes the physical.
I live in FL and am pretty familiar with the teams down here from friends-- Jags fans love Robinson, similar to how we loved Bilal Powell. Super tough and great locker room guy, just a really solid player across the board. Really good grab for what we paid and he can come in and immediately contribute. The AVT loss is the one that we really can't augment for.
Damn... I'm freakin' sick & tired of sending kudos to JD! What's he thinking? This is the Jets. The Jets don't do quick, thoughtful, aggressive, smart deals. At least 'til ol' "Svengali Eyes" (thanks ColoradoContrails) entered the picture. At this point, I'm just a Jets fan - - rarely watch other teams - - so, I don't know much about JR. But watched some video, & with the positive reactions of all you guys... Kudos to JD... for everything, big guy!
He has minor knee issues at this point which is why he did not play last weekend. The description is sore knees. That's why he was really cheap.
It may be wishful thinking that Robinson can be the same He had a knee drained on Saturday before the game... he played... but not much.
or maybe they held him out knowing they would trade him and wanting him to be healthy enough to move? I’m just speculating but it does happen.
Who knew Jaguars fans were funny people? Ok.. the sacrifice is done. Let's see if the Football Gods are pleased.. That was a hell of a sacrifice though.. https://www.duvalpride.com/showthread.php?tid=37535&page=7
to anyone confused why they drafted etienne. him and tlaw were teammates in college. they were trying to surround him with familiarity and also etienne and jrob are not really comparable players. it's kind of like what we did here with carter and breece. but their plan was always for etienne to be the lead back to pair with tlaw out of the gate. doesn't mean jrob isn't a good player. he is and he's really underrated. we even have people on this board calling him a plodder and "Scrappy". he's a lot more than that.
etienne has been biting at the lead job for a couple of weeks now. he also was having a monster game. he just took the job he was drafted to take.
Well let’s see how much he plays and when he does, he should be hopefully effective, giving 50 yards.
After this is well, and done, JD will retire as the best Jet GM ever and one of the best in the entire NFL. Arm chair criticism of his moves by the literati fans is rapidly circling down the toilet drain.
I like the message JD is sending to the team that the FO has their back. As much as Douglas' loves his draft picks it said quite a bit that he would trade one for a rental. But keep in mind we should be gaining comp picks after next years FA as we don't have much money. So maybe Robinson will get us a 2024 comp pick.
It's very timely move because losing 2 of the kids can hurt morale but seeing JD make a move probably will get a lot of the defense guys and oline feeling good that they are not alone in this. JRob I hope works well in the schemes with Carter and no pressure here cause he will have support. He probably also won't ask to be traded either
