Wouldn’t mind giving Carter, Ty Johnson, and Zonovan Knight a little opportunity before rushing to trade at RB. if we were to trade a 7th, maybe get Tevin Coleman back from SF for depth now that they have McCaffery and getting Michell back soon? Im more concerned about OL but finding someone at this point in season not easy on the line.
He has to find a guy the Jets can give 10 carries a game too. If not then MC will wear down and we're in trouble. It might be worth going to Chicago with a Elijah Moore for David Montgomery offer.
No way. Montgomery is a fa after this year and will get some money (not from us). We aren’t moving Moore for a rental.
There’s no chance I want to bring Coleman back. That ship has sailed. The guy to get is Jeff Wilson if they call up SF
I’d prefer Jeff Wilson provided no more than a 6th. Was thinking Coleman as they won’t have much use for him and he knows our exact system. I don’t think the ship has necessarily sailed. I like your idea of Wilson tho as he’s a better player and also system friendly. Maybe I shouldn’t have cut him in fantasy
Maybe Jeff Wilson. I'd like to see Bam get some carries this weekend first. I doubt there are any OL moves to make anymore. He made a bunch already. Herbig has been a pleasant surprise so his original spot is fortunately fine. Don't forget Fant and Max Mitchell will likely be returning in the coming weeks. Duane Brown is also pretty entrenched at LT. And they have Ogbuehi and Remmers as depth.
So you trade Elijah Moore for Montgomery because the Jets running game needs to be good this year if we're going to avoid a flop. Then at the end of the season if he signs a deal too rich for us we get back a 3rd or 4th round sandwich pick in '24. Hopefully we have Breece Hall back for next season alongside MC and whatever the draft provides. The reason the Bears will make this deal is that they're also looking at Montgomery as potentially too rich for their blood in '23 given they have Herbert as well. 5-2 man. If we don't run with this we may not get back to it again any time soon. And we definitely need to run well to keep the win streak alive.
Any RB we get would have to have elite speed. Otherwise just stick with Carter, Johnson, Knight. Also ,I would not trade Moore for a RB, unless they had that speed and more than one year on their contract. It would be terrible value. I'd take a 4th rounder for Moore before a JAG RB.
Montgomery is a strong back with multiple breakaways in his career including an 80 yard run in 2020. The only reason he might be available is that the Bears have two #1 capable backs and really could use an Elijah Moore quality receiver. Also he's going free next season and will be expensive to retain. Trading Moore for a 4th rounder in '23 is far inferior to trading him for a good RB this year and a sandwich pick in '24.
Montgomery is a UFA at the end of the year so your talking about trading Moore for a 10 game rental. Terrible return on Moore.
thats an awful trade for us. you don't trade a premium asset you need for a 1 year rental. were better off seeing what we have in bam or trading a late round pick for a guy on the bubble of a roster
And the sandwich pick. If Montgomery signs a big deal elsewhere it will get the Jets a 3rd or 4th round comp pick in '24. If he doesn't get big offers the Jets can bring him back. As long as the Jets are trying to develop ZW they are going to need talented backs and plenty of them.
