It’s unreal. One of the more baffling situations I’ve seen and that says a lot when you’ve been a Jets fan for almost 30 years.
I would trade him. What else can you do? More than likely nothing changes as far as targets and receptions, we are a ground and pound team. He may have big splash games but if he wants 1k yards it probably isn't happening. He has Antonio Brown written all over him, to cause a distraction after 3 straight wins by this organization that desperately needs culture change is the most selfish thing I have seen in sports.
I’m trying to think of all the wacky shit I’ve seen and this is without a doubt in the top three if not the top. I think number one still has to go to the Rex Ryan foot fetish video. To each their own, but that was just so jarring. Geno getting punched? Tim Tebow experiment? Butt fumble? Favre sending dong pictures? Geno missing a team meeting because he forgot they changed time zones? Darnold getting mono? This beats all of those. Actually the Belichick situation is probably up there. I was on vacation. When we took off, he was the coach, when we landed, he resigned. And on a fucking paper napkin. So at the very least the Elijah Moore situation is in the top three.
Come back, head down, insert tail between legs and apologize and maybe the divide isn't too wide in the locker room but I doubt it.
From all accounts he hasn’t displayed diva traits. Saleh has sung his praises since day 1 here. This maybe something out of the norm, hence him getting this week off, to clear his head. He needs to re-evaluate the situation he’s in and where this team is. He’s an asset but he needs to see where the other players on this team have sacrificed. He’s only in his second year. If he’s thinking about a payday right now, then someone is totally a mouthpiece and ruining him.
I think this is the heart of the issue. Moore and his agent believe he can be a #1 right now somewhere else, regardless of the reason. They want stats not wins, and he’s not likely to post the kind he wants as a Jet right now.
It's funny (kind of, not really) that we've been hearing all this talk in the media this week about how these Jets don't know anything about the Same Old Jets and the franchise's history of futility because they're all so young. Well, I guess they're getting a crash course in it now because this whole situation, as you said, is right up there with the craziest of the craziest situations this franchise has seen over the past decades.
Sauce taking shots yesterday about being selfish and then Q with his NO I in TEAM caption .. not looking good for EM
The reality is he’s gone regardless this year or next - and we have too much depth at WR to deal with his headache. We can get a premium pick and grab another great young WR in the next draft. Saleh will try to work it out after he cools down over the weekend, and if it still a problem, then he’ll give the call for JD to move him next week.
Those guys are on D. on NFL teams, the O and D players rarely communicate with each other throughout the week - and even the positional groups. What matters is what Corey Davis said, who works with him daily. Davis supported him and said it’s a tough situation.
I think it definitely speaks to how the locker room in general feels towards Elijah rn. Like I’ve said though, this situation can be remedied. If Elijah comes back to the team on Monday and apologizes, I think the team will forgive him and chalk it up to him “being competitive”. No matter the outcome, he’s definitely rubbed some folks in the locker room the wrong way.
If you don’t think it matters that two of the best players on the team are taking shots at him i don’t know what to tell you.
This times 1000. People trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. This situation will not fracture the locker room. It will only make it stronger. There is no I in team.
Their defensive guys. When the offensive players take shots then we are in nowhere land. Davis said. WE NEED HIM and that’s a direct quote in The Post (not an understated tweet) from the senior WR and offensive player on the team.
Only if the players are 6yo girls and hopefully they are not. Adults and footballing adults at that, know how the damned game works. We have seen two tweets on how the dressing room has reacted to Moore, it is unfortunate, in reality, those two tweets would cause more ill feelings from Moore in his current mind.
At least Keyshaun WAS on an horrifically coached team when he wrote his book after his rookie season. It's such a bad look for EM to put this out there now when it genuinely feels like there is nothing but positive vibes around this team...
Moore has done nothing in the NFL. Absolutely nothing. He’s a quick dude that suddenly gets very slow with pads on. He creates very little separation on his routes. The one thing I’ll give is he belongs in the slot where he can exploit soft zones and/or gets covered by a S or a LB which creates a mismatch in his favor. But man to man against a CB Moore is plain useless. The team leaders have clearly spoken and Moore has absolutely no presence to divide or sway a locker room. On the outside Mims is an upgrade over him. Mims may not be able to play at every WR position but he’s much better than Moore outside.
I agree. "Me first" attitudes don't just suddenly happen. He's a selfish guy. Of course all athletes are selfish and self centered to a degree, but the truly successful ones - the ones who wind up on winning teams more than others - set aside that selfishness. I don't Moore, but I assume he isn't dumb, and he also has an agent who I assume isn't dumb, so he had to know what going public with a trade demand would do, and yet he went and did it anyway. That's a guy who clearly doesn't care about the team. The Jets are playing well because they're pulling together as a team. They don't need a prima donna issuing selfish demands. Park him on the inactive squad until you find a trade partner, hopefully a team that sucks, and let the rest of team enjoy their success.
