Idk, I'm torn on this. I get this perspective and Moore is a good player, but culture is important and requesting a trade 1.3 years into your career when your team is having its best year in forever is insanely selfish. Guys like that don't usually magically transform into team-first guys. AVT's young too and he's a consummate professional and teammate. It's who he is, and this may just be who Moore is.
We really don't know if he did request a trade. All we know is he's sent some bizarre tweets, & didn't practice. The rest is all speculation, or a source said this or that. We'll find out more tomorrow.
Yup this is my take. I’ve taken some flack for it in other places, but this isn’t a one way thing here. LaFleur seems to have a giant ass ego for a guy who hasn’t won shit. Just because your brother is a head coach doesn’t make you a winner by osmosis. Moore definitely should’ve kept his mouth shut, but like I said before this has happened twice in two years under MLF’s watch.
Ah, sorry. I don't do twitter so I don't have direct confirmation. If he didn't actually reqest trade it puts a bit of a different light on it.
If he didn't actually request a trade, either he or the team would have a statement out there to that effect. The report of his having done so has been out there for long enough that to essentially respond to it with silence is to basically confirm it.
Do you KNOW he requested a trade? That aside, he seemed really excited during training camp, & the beginning of the season. And to him he's confused how things have devolved. It doesn't necessarily mean he's me-first. Hell, I'm confused why he's not being utilized in the slot more often. People mature at different rates. This is a learning experience for him, & let's see over the next few days how this plays out.
Technically you are correct, but Ian Rapoport, one of the foremost national football reporters there is, isn't going to post something like this if it isn't vetted really well.
Correct. I mean it's not like putting him slot is going to suddenly hurt the passing game significantly more. There's zero downside to putting him in the slot for a game to see how it works out.
Of course he has a giant ego. How many head coaches, Oc, Dc don't have one? Why are lots of folks somehow blaming the OC, when the team is rolling and putting up lots and lots of points? They apparently thought that against the opponents they played, using a run first strategy was the way to go. How can anyone dispute that was the right strategy. People were fans of the 50 pass Flacco games? Maybe against other opponents they might need more of a passing game, but how can anyone intelligently criticize the current approach.
Yes hes 22 fucking years old. Dont act like you had it all together and didnt make stupid rasg decisions at 22. Biology says most humans brains dont even begin to mature until theyre around 24 yrs of age. So yes hes a child. You have kids? Did you wreck their lives because they made dumb decisions? So you wanna wreck someone elses because he plays for your favorite football team? Fact is MLF is a shit playcaller. The one or 2 plays a game he makes a great call do not negate the many many bad ones before Is Moore wrong, absolutely. I already said that. So WTF is yourrant about? Hes not getting traded.
I mean, he is being underutilized and LaFleur should be scheming him more touches and playing him in different spots. But requesting a trade less than a year and a half into your career right after your team just had their biggest win in years and is catching stride is incredibly selfish and immature. Unless some crazy stuff is happening with he and LaFleur, it's ridiculous. I hope it can be worked out, but this completely changes my perception of him and imagine it will for the rest of the team.
I don't think anyone has said we need to pass more. Moore is basically saying he's being wasted playing out of position, and no scripted plays going to him. And that's fair. Braxton, Wilson, and even Davis are getting scripted plays. This Saleh/MLF playing favorites, like they did with Mims. The weird thing is MLF was the one who really wanted Moore drafted. So the usage is quite odd. That's the perfect type of wide receiver for his offense. I think MLF is a bit over his with all the talent around him. A more seasoned offensive mind like Andy Reid, would be getting us 30 pts a game in our sleep with these weapons.
Moore is probably like trade me, get some picks and have Mims or Smith run these routes lol. I mean....might have a point. Addition by subtraction IMO.
go back to page 7. I said I made plenty of mistakes. My" rant" is, unless he apologizes he has not learned shit. You and others can't seem to objectively analyze LaFleur. 3-0 under Wilson, lots of points scored. Yet he is a shit playcaller. Well he may turn out to be, but not at the moment.
Not only am I not that upset about this as a fan, it actually makes things more exciting for the next few days/weeks. If it was a player that has been of great importance to the team - like AVT, Hall, Reed, Sauce, etc., I'd be much more frustrated. But this is a guy who has not been vital to the Jets starting the season 4-2, yet also has a good amount of potential trade value. So JD can hold him until he gets right, or he can trade him to try and shore up a need that has arisen since the season started. Wish it didn't happen, but it's also a fun wrinkle to this great start.
Just got home to see this and I'm so angry and disappointed in Moore at this point. Why does there need to be a malcontent on this team when we're actually winning?
