The Jets are doing a fine job, starting the process of the elimination of prior stigmas. It sure would be nice to eliminate the one of walking into obvious "trap games" completely overconfident. I'm hopeful that Coach Saleh is thinking about this.
If I can diagnose the problem correctly, it's not a trap you be smelling... it's SOJ syndrome. Take 4 breaths, then a cup of water, & y'all should be fine. I don't sense this team has experienced winning together, long enough to fall into the trap thing yet. Maybe at some point, but for now, so many un-jaded young players... I don't see overconfidence, or resting on their laurels being an immediate problem.
The “trap” isn’t so much that the game is in Denver it’s because it is sandwiched between a huge road upset and the Patriots - which is a huge game for the franchise mindset regardless of how good the Patriots are at the moment. And I’m not saying the Broncos are a better team than the Jets or that the Broncos will win. But the way the schedule is lined out there is a “potential” for a let down. That’s what Hackett is saying …
Not sure the vendetta campaign is over for the Jets. Listening to Sauce talk about how GB got to hand-pick their opponent after the London game (instead of taking a bye)...sounds like the fire is still raging in the Jets locker room. I'm not expecting the Jets to win but I don't expect them to look past Denver. Short week for Denver. We're probably looking at a 1 score game into the 4th.
Any team looking past a game in Denver is a foolish team. If we lose it won't be for that reason. The "trap" I'm thinking about is that absolutely spectacular trap play to Breece Hall for the TD yesterday. That was absolutely beautiful and is a sign things are pointing up. They executed that so damn well.
How good this team really is remains to be seen, but they have proven that they will go pedal to the metal and not let down for 60 minutes. Zach has done a great job game managing, but his feet are now wet and it is time for him to play like a FQB. IF he can do that we will be playoff bound. Also, even if we stay with the ground game we have to find a way to get Moore and G Wilson some more touches.
I feel the same way …. But hopefully the Jets can pull it out. Regardless of talent any team can win any game at any time in the NFL. And the schedule makers really screwed the Jets particularly this whole first half. The silver lining is the Jets so far have risen to the occasion and could be looking at an easier second half with a favorable record ….
