Agreed, but he could also open things up a bit early to keep the other team off balance. Also, I think being so conservative in the beginning hinders Zach's ability to play loose which is a big part of his game. Hard to argue with success though.
Hopefully that'll develop as time goes on. Zach really hasn't had much time to learn and develop in the preseason and is learning on the fly in games. It's got to be a tough balance of trusting him and also not putting too much weight on his shoulders too early.
I don't care what Saleh said about we should get used to winning every week, it is the new normal and we should not celebrate every win like it is a big thing. It is not normal for me and every win still feels like the freaking Super Bowl to me. I am not getting used to this at all and just taking it one weekly miracle at a time. Are we going to beat the crap out of Denver next? Can we dream of 5-2? That certainly is not normal but I am dreaming. Please don't wake me up.
The stars have aligned for all of our wins we've played a lot of struggling offenses (and we get another one next week!). I don't think we can compete with the big boys with an anemic passing attack but all I wanted this year was progress and Saleh has delivered on that. I'm just enjoying the ride!
The coaching staff deserves props for preparing the Jets to play hard all game until the final gun. For a young team, they seem to have a great deal of resilience and do not seem to buckle under or get discouraged when adversity strikes during a game. Case and point was that ridiculous unsportsmanlike penalty by the Jets on the Packers 4th down punt. The same old Jets would have been demoralized by the penalty and probably would have allowed a TD on the drive. The Jet D did not miss a beat, continued to play hard and did not seem fazed by the refs gifted first down to the Packers. The Jets showed the same grit against the Browns and Steelers when it seemed the opponent had all the momentum and would cruise to victory.
