Well we’ve done what JD said he wanted to do, what Mac never did with Darnold, and what the Bears certainly aren’t doing with Fields….and that’s to surround the QB with talent and make his job easier. We have a very nice solid receiver group with viable options in the passing game at WR, TE, and RB. We haven’t been able to say that in a long time. Our OL has struggled mostly due to injury (and I still say JD was wrong to count on Becton to stay healthy), but it looks like they are coming together and once Fant and Mitchell come back it feels like we will have options and it should keep getting better and better. Still think we need to invest a high pick on OT next year but it’s looking up. it will all come down to Zach. I’ve not been sold on him but he’s had two solid games now, two wins, and everyone is starting to believe. If he keeps on this trajectory we could really have something here. I’ll say this…I never wanted Fields… think he benefitted from playing at a great school but that school has NEVER developed a really good NFL QB…not a one. I thought he was throwing to wide open receivers with not a single bit of pressure in his face. I’ll give him this…he’s got the physical skills and he is a tough kid…but Chicago has done him no favors with the lack of skill around him, and I doubt he develops there. but back to us, I agree JDs last two drafts have been really really good. The first one? Ugh not so much and half those guys aren’t even here anymore…but it was a different coach and system, and he had said he works with the coaches hand in hand so some of that may be on Gase requesting certain types of guys…regardless, if he keeps hitting on picks like the last two drafts we will be in good shape.
Teammates at TGG. I know this it's a stretch, probably nothing but a coincidence, but I'll throw it out there anyway. What is the one thing the three Jets victories have in common? Answer, for each victory, one of our players was voted rookie of the week for outstanding performance. Here is to our heroes in the hope for another outstanding performance this week. You never know. But these boys are becoming the heart and soul of this team and elevating every players intensity. I'm rooting for our guy Garret to light it up in the air, for Hall to light it up everywhere, and for Sauce to make life really difficult for Aaron Rodgers. Go Jets, give us another rookie of the week with a win.
yup the rookies have been amazing! Sadly Moore hasn’t been able to get going yet. I hope once we have a more stable Oline we can see the pass game get better and take some deep shots too. Also if JD has another draft like this, we are gonna be looking real good
Someone had mentioned it earlier that this is the first time in forever that we have an exciting group of rookies. Who are contributing big time at that.
Breese won the PFT rookie of the week, & Sauce won the Pepsi Zero rookie of the week. Pepsi is more of a fan vote.
