Brook! Why!?! I literally didn't have an ounce of doubt we were going to lose this game, until I read the original post. Brook, you are as optimistic and bold as they come. Now I think we are going to lose.
Guys, please remember.....kumbaya, . 'j-e-t-s' . and all that.... alt. translation: or I will ban your ass.....
While the Jets played with a makeshift O line. Can't really use an excuse on one side while ignoring the limitations on the other side if you want to have a good comparison. Not to mention the 1st of those 2, Wilson was coming off an injury and had to shake off the rust. On another note, it is quite enjoyable to read the bi-polar posts of others here as they swing wildly after a win or loss. That has been the norm here for years but seems to have ramped up a bit this season.
Losing this game would not be the end of the world for this young team. Winning this game could lead to a letdown in the future where we underestimate one or more opponents because we are too busy looking at out press clippings. The most important thing win or lose is how we play. Do we give up on the running game too early? Does Zach melt down and turn the ball over four times? Does our defense get gutted by long runs up the middle? Do our first and second year players continue to shine or do they disappear against top competition?
One loss and we will get some negative posts but 2 straight losses and we will be getting that huge bipolar SOJ Jet swing. 2 losses and the Saleh, JD and ZW hate squad will be back in full swing. They have not left but are just biding their time waiting for an opportunity to strike and tell us how smart they think they are. But as long as we keep winning they will stay away. Here is hoping we don't see them for quite awhile. This is the happiest I have seen Jet fans in quite awhile. Looking at the roster it is pretty obvious it has improved quite a bit, but actually seeing it in our play is quite hard to believe. It usually takes time for talent to translate into results. Here is hoping it is not a mirage.
I had poor expectations from day 1 Now I am in a different place No harm in expecting the best? Right? Based on past performance I can actually say the Jets give the Cheesemen a competitive contest Hooray!!!
I'll just echo what I said in the game thread here. Regardless of what happened to the Packers last week, they're still a very talented team with a future HOFer at QB. This will be a very difficult test for this young team. If they keep this a 1 score game throughout, there should be legitimate optimism about where this team is and what they can achieve this season. Go into Lambeau and get a W?? The sky's the limit.
I am still worried about our defense. We need to find a way to shut down the run. If we keep this game close going into the 4th quarter we will have a great chance to win. If the Packers come out and have three straight long TD drives and we go three and out it could get ugly. I do not see that happening but it can with Mr. MVP at QB.
It's a tough ask. We have to stop the run and also stop Rodgers who gets rid of the ball very fast and accurately. I am more worried about stopping the short passing game and Rodgers eating us alive on short throws to the TE, backs and receivers. Similar to what Burrow did to us. That could have the effect of opening up the running game.
If the Jets corners are playing more than 5 yards off the ball at any point I am going to lose my mind. Chase, Higgins, and Boyd are infinitely better than anything the Packers have on the outside/inside. I would be hesitant to leave my CBs on an island with those guys as well.
Unbelievable loser mentality on this board. Jets are going into the bye at 6-3 on their way to competing for an AFC East title!
IMO if we win this game it will come down to the 4th quarter. Or, Rodgers goes down and we get Love, which has been our luck so far. And we still win in the 4th quarter.
