With the new playoff format (7 teams per conference), the playoffs are easier than ever to achieve.

Last year, the AFC wild card teams were 10-7, 10-7, 9-7-1. Philly made the NFC playoffs at 9-8.

Ten wins will most likely get in again this year. I don't think this is a 10-win team, but if they keep improving and catch some breaks, it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Split the next 4 (preferably losing to GB and beating NE). Hit the bye at 5-4 with a Div record of 2-1 and a Conf record of 5-3 and then we can start thinking about playoffs.

Until then, I just want to see this extremely young team continue to compete, get better and limit the dumb mistakes.

As one reads thru this thread (& others), it's clear lots of fans are having trouble, even experiencing some optimism. They seem afraid of being let down again. So, my friend, whilst you may need a miracle, & some may need time, some of us are just enjoying this ride. It's been a rough roller coaster ride since Supe III, & I'm really enjoying this... & refuse to let petty horseshat distract that enjoyment. Here's to your miracle, I'm with ya on that!

If the Jets were to win in GB - that would put the NFL on notice. That’s when all of the “The Jets have a solid young nucleus” talk will begin to dominate the NFL talk shows for the week….

10 is the magic number - especially for AFC. I have 4 games marked as wins (in pencil anyway lol) Home games vs Pats, Bears, Lions, and Jags. That gives them 7 total. Which of the remaining 8 games can they pull off? That’s the question ….

There are 7 playoff spots - 3 wild cards. Assuming the Bengals/Ravens both make playoffs that leaves 2 spots among Dolphins, Patriots, Browns, Chargers, and Jets from what I can see now.

As of now the Steelers, Texans, Jags, Colts, Broncos, Raiders are on the outside looking in but it’s still early of course….

I don't consider myself a darksider... even though I'll throw out a negative comment once in a while... often in an attempt at humor.

I don't buy into the Same Old Jets mantra either. What I do buy into is same old shitty GM & Head Coach hires.

    I'm excited about our prospects...

I'm a darksider on the ownership, & most of the other hires since Charlie Winner & Lou Holz:cool:
I do like a lot of what JD's done, but the CS I have lots of problems with. I keep trying to remind myself that the CS is learning too, so, aside from a few outbursts, like in the game thread last week, I'm practicing self-control. Good luck to me:eek:

Good players make average coaches look good.

It's tough to win when the talent ain't on the field... for any coach.
Belichick's star has faded once he lost a single player.

Aint that the truth... and visa versa. I'll tell ya, I think the Giants did well hiring Daboll. I liked him when the Jets had him.

Go 2-1 in the next 3 and they have a shot.

Shall I bump my thread or no?

I looked at various postings, and it seems like very few people have the nerve to bring this up.

Could the 2022-2023 Jets make the playoffs? Why not? Before some of you call me crazy and maybe I am, please check out this site.

    http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/nflpostseasonprob.html

This part of the website shows the probability of the Jets not making the playoffs as 38%.

    http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/jetsstandings.html

Thus the Jets have a 62% chance of making the playoffs!

Keep in mind there are 11 games left and many things can change. I am only pointing this out because it's about time we start considering the Jets a possible playoff team.

    How about a poll?

I prefer to watch the next 3 games before the bye before making a prediction. As of now, I'd vote yes, but that could changes quickly.

I'm gonna hold off on playoff predictions until at least the BYE week.

I need to see this team play a couple more division games before I feel too strongly about the playoffs.

If we beat the Pats at home and hang tough with the Bills the next week? Ok, then we can start to have this discussion.

It is exciting to think about though!

The next couple weeks are important in seeing how the coaching staff is going to adjust. We’ve pretty much thrown the kitchen sink out there on tape as far as our running game is concerned.

Saleh and LaFleur need to continue to come up with innovative game plans to counter.
