Our first win was not in September last year.

We had a ridiculously easy schedule in 2019, that's all there was to it.

    Which era has been worse:
    JD/Gase or JD/Saleh?

Sadly i think the latter, which I wouldn't have believed even possible a couple years ago.

Only difference is I like Saleh for some reason.

There wasn't that much of a JD/Gase era. 2019 was virtually all Maccagnan's players (Douglas wasn't hired until after free agency and the draft), and 2020 had some Douglas players but still a lot of Maccagnan. Last year is when it really started to be Douglas's team.

Seriously - four or five wins is definitely NOT average; it is lousy, regardless of your expectations. Only six teams in the league had five or fewer wins last year, nine in 2020. The laws of math tell us that in a sixteen or seventeen game season eight or nine wins is average; stretch it to seven to eleven if you want a bigger "average" group, but four is way below average any way it is counted.

Now, if you took combined wins for 2020 and 2021...ah, nevermind.

Gase was by far worse. By far. I get people are upset right now, I do. There Is no comparison In my eyes though.

Just about anyone would've been an upgrade over Gase though. Pretty low bar.

What has Saleh established as a strong redeeming quality as a HC so far. Has our culture changed at all? Do we have an identity? Does he make our offense or defense any better? Have his in game decisions and strategies been sound? Are players playing at or above their ceiling for him? Does he handle the media well?
    I’m asking honestly.

A 9 win season may well get you into the playoffs via a wild card, is that an average season for the Jets?

    17-0 A miracle season
    14-16 Brilliant
    11-13 Fantastic
    9-10 Good
    7-9 Average
    4-6 Below average
    1-3 Shite
0 Brilliant #1 pick in the bag baby.

Don't take everything so bloody serious

Saleh is better at handling the media than most coaches we've had.

Dumb slogans aside... the culture is better.

Has he made any stupid in-game decisions beside a misguided time-out call here & there?
The last two minutes of the Browns game was handled perfectly.

Stack some wins and the "identity" will forge itself. ;)

Saleh is a good communicator, he’s engaging. He looks the part. That doesn’t make the words out of his mouth any wiser. He told the press a monkey could call his defense. The whole receipts thing…. One coach in history got away with talking to the NY media that way. Saleh doesn’t have that stock and he’s already starting to face the heat of the press for it.

I agree the culture feels better, but his defense is already having a players only meeting and Quinnen is on the sideline screaming at a coach.

Wins fix everything, but unless Zach has a miraculous leap in year two this going to be another losing season and the heat is going to be brutal, especially if we keep performing as flat and lackluster as we’ve looked this far in Saleh’s tenure.

The culture is better in the sense our coach isn't a socially awkward guy. Better with the media and players. Other than that I can say the culture has changed. Look at what Daboll and McDaniels are doing as rookie HC. That's what a culture change looks like

Watching the Bengals-Dolphins game right now, my main takeaway is that we plucked the wrong coordinators out of San Fran.

Culture smulture...how bout we deal with just Wins and Losses??

Are you a Team Loser or Team Winner..?? That's an Identity not necessarily a culture imo....who cares how you talk to a bunch of Reporters...I don't

..take a look at Bellichek the most monosyllabic non elaborative Coach in NFL history ..oh and BTW he won the most super bowls in history

Who cares about that shit..I look at Daboll and McDaniels as cerebral and basically way better Coaches at their Job

To your point.Giants and Dolphins with rookie HCs are kicking ass offensively. We chose a DC background and we are dismal in defense. And he doesn’t call any plays. Humm.
