I also heard about this. It's probably a mutation, but Parvo is an extremely deadly disease and it's hard and expensive- for a dog to bounce back from if they become infected. Poor pups, but probably extremely fucking stupid people. There are such things as affordable (sometimes traveling) vaccination clinics if you don't have the money.

Dogs that are seized or abandoned at shelters are highly susceptible and shelters are severely undefunded and can only do so much.

Your little old man reminds me of the RCA dog sitting in front of the victrola. It's the first thing I thought of even in the other photo.

This thread makes me want to get another dog.

Ours died prematurely about a year ago... But at that point Scooter was an awful dog that we had to watch so it wouldn't bite our toddler and newborn. She also barked non stop and developed crippling anxiety after our kids were born. Her dying was still tragic.

Once our kids are a little older I'm definitely getting a dog again

Yeah same breed... Jack Russell Terrier. I've had a few.

I adopted Cooper at 14 years old at the start of the pandemic... figuring I'd be home to take care of him and get him acclimated. He really responded to good food and exercise... built up some good muscle tone and alertness.

For some reason he latched on to me and now has to go everywhere with me... even work.

Luckily he is very well behaved and trustworthy... his only glitch is that he likes tangling with the raccoons around the house.
He does like squirrels though... I can't explain why.

I make the exact same face when Flacco throws the ball out of the pocket to the athletic trainer.

Trick or treating. Can definitely say I have empty nest syndrome since my kids moved out.

So, you've resorted to torturing animals? Shame on you.

I went to visit my best friend of 40 years yesterday. She lives in NYC and has her whole life, and she's a tremendous dog person like yours truly.

She has three dogs. You heard that right, three dogs in NYC, all rescues, but her apt. is huge, especially by NYC standards. This is Trixie. She's eight years old, her previous owner died.

My friend adopted her 2 months ago, she's adjusted wonderfully, and she's hilarious. She's part French Bulldog, part Boston Terrier, and part Pug. She kills me.
