We can point to millions of reasons why this team is not winning on more micro level. On a macro level the problems are easy to see:

    1) The Jets offense starts way too slow. They routinely take at least a third of the game off. The Bengals game was no different. Without the offense starting to get to the end zone in the 1st quarter we'll always be in danger of losing more games than winning.

    2) They always lose the turnover battle. Without a positive turnover differential this team will always lose.

If we cure these two things , we'll start doing a lot more winning. Saleh doesn't even seem to understand this?

I thought for sure the Jets would finally have a presence with the bevvy of edge rushers in the ranks, but, so far they have 5 crummy sacks.

Things are a lot simpler than this.

Currently, Jets suck at two aspects out of the three:

    1. Defense
    2. Offense

Woody Johnson has always relied on those he hires as General Managers and coaches to make the right decisions and lead the team in the right direction. The problem is not that he is a meddling owner a la Jones or DeBartolo and derails the plans of his hired help by getting involved in player selection and game planning; he just hires the wrong help - they're the ones who keep everything screwed up.

if we're talking about the "same two things: that always kills us--interesting topic by the way-I will go with NEVER getting to the QB and never finding a weakness in the opponent D to take advantage of

    My two things would be:

    1. Always prioritizing systems over players and taking too long to adjust to what your players can do well if the Jets do that at all.

    2. Lack of experience at all levels of management and never learning from mistakes.

Basically the Jets keep doing the same things over and over again while expecting different results.

If I hire unqualified people to run my business, it's on me when my business keeps failing.
He's the one that hires the wrong people, so he's the one who keeps screwing up.

2 main reasons the Jets have struggled for years:
    - Haven't had a true franchise QB in decades
    - Haven't had an effective pass rusher since John Abraham left

As an almost retired salesman I can tell you this about business: BS'ers LOVE other BS'ers. Give a guy who's often full of it himself, a plate full of crap and he'll eat it up. Point being, that trait in a hirer can lead you in the wrong direction most of the time. A low key genius will never be hired.

I could be wrong, but there have been stretches not too long ago where I felt it was the opposite: First drive zip zip zip score (FG's count) and then after thinking "wow, our offense is clicking today!'' it stalls into yuckville.

His own pride. Typical rich boy complex just like Dolan.
Gotta try and prove their worth amongst their peers that they did the most "on their own" and not w/any "help"...
He has Zero clue of the pulse of the fanbase and football.

I just have never seen this - I get the idea that Johnson doesn't associate with any of his NFL peers at all and by not doing so is even less equipped to deal with running a team so he lets the hired help do it and shows up rarely with nothing to say. Other owners are playing golf with each other, socializing and sharing information.
