Thanks! I will do the same. She’s on 13th N, about 3 blocks from where the mandatory evacuations was. Looks like it’s trending a little S, so that helps that area with the surge, but more rain for everyone.
about a block or two from the marsh and half mile from the ocean.... oldest house in a low lying neighborhood. Sore from filling 40 sandbags... and found we have a evac order now. about to caulk in my doorways with window sealant caulk.... spray foam works too but the mess is a disaster
yeah that would be nice.... but next to impossible for a 50 yr old concrete block house. Hoping a tornado flattens it, so I can build a new one on stilts.... never used to be a problem, but LOTS of stupid development in the 20 years I've lived here (over filling lots instaed of building on stilts or using stem walls)
Concrete block houses were the original adaptation to hurricane country because it's really hard for high winds to structurally damage them. Maybe you could lay some more supports and lay a second slab like 3 feet off the foundation and then build an extra floor above?
That whole area east of MLK is really bad for flooding. Normal summer rainfall can put a foot of water in some houses there if the tides bad, Snell Isle and Shore Acres especially, luckily she's a little outside that area.
Yeah, she said just a few blocks away floods under just heavy t-storms. She’s on the 2nd floor , but the cars are still out there. Elevated lot, but with 15-20 of rain, and a surge , that probably won’t help. Hopefully everyone lucks out in some way.
My drive this morning was worse than that. Give it about 3 more hours though and that area is going to be in the shit.
Nathan is a great streamer. I've been watching him for 3 years now and best money I've ever spent on a streamer.
Just got back and the rain is picking up here. Still not any worse than some of our regular rain storms but been getting a little rough by my daughter in Manatee. They are near tropical storm force now. Tornado chances are a bit high right now around me though.
@stinkyB ,@The Waterboy .. how are you guys holding up? Report from st Pete… power flickering ,but still on. Winds should start to diminish this eve. They lucked out with the storm passing to the south. Ft myers , not so much.
We are now getting the heavier winds but not near what will be our top winds from what they are saying. Daughter in Manatee a little worse off than Pinellas daughter. Both losing power here and there, daughter in Pinellas has a lot more trees and shrubbery around so they'll have lots of clean up. Daughter in Manatee is about to lose fans on porch but should only have a couple more hours before it starts winding down for her. That will be when it ramps up for me. New graphics looked like staying a little stronger than they expected but I'm not great at deciphering it all. Can't see it too well on my phone either. It'll be mostly over by morning though.
still a minor event here... SO FAR. Rainfall predictions are all over the place, from 12" to 22".... hopefully the former as drainage in back of neighborhood looks pretty full Rainfall may decrease with new track, but surge increased to 4-6 Timing will be everything (but its so slow not sure that matters) I prepped the best I could in this time frame (not as good as past two storms) so we'll see.... if we maintain power most of tommorrow I should be ok (sump pump) lots of beers till then* * have work to do, but I just cant concentrate... creative juices aint flowin thanks
