Why is this issue so hard to understand? We had at least three separate cases yesterday of crucial, devastating and completely unnecessary penalties that kill progress. When professionals are unable to control their temper to the detriment of our team, a good HC sits their sorry asses down. Discipline is key to success.

It's hard to tell if Davis quit his route to go after the defender or if he went after the defender after the ball was gone. If it's the latter, it's still an awful penalty, and there should be some punishment. But if it's the former, he should be running gassers for the entirety of every practice for the next week.

Yea that's my thinking. It's a stupid move/penalty regardless, but it looked like ball wasn't catchable anyways and way far off.

    Still, not a good look.

It's pretty clear to me that Davis is (illegally) engaged with the defender near the goal line while Flacco still has the ball in play and the whole corner of the end zone is empty. Maybe somebody who looks at the 22 view can chime in.

i thought since the hit on Tee Higgins the players became very chippy on both sides.

It's very clear to me that CD quit on the play. But, to be sure, I downloaded the video, & watched in slow motion. He was already in the defenders' face when Flacco threw the ball.
The question is, whether it was a terrible pass, or Flacco saw CD out of position, & chucked it away. I vote Flacco threw it away, as the pass was caught way out of the endzone.
