Why was he not interviewed for the head coaching job? Like I thought he would, he has done a good job turning around the jags shitshow. Wasn't fat boy assistant gm when he coached the super bowl? Does anyone have any insight to why he wasn't considered? Instead we have clown Saleh running the show now.
Saleh was much less threatening to the existing structure. One of the things about hiring rookie HC's is that they never rock the boat and make demands. They're just glad to be here. When Gase came in he got Maccagnan fired and Joe Douglas hired as an example. However the fact that the Jets hired a bad vet coach who rocked the boat doesn't mean they shouldn't hire a good one that does the same. This boat could use a lot of rocking right about now.
This is what's most frustrating about this franchise - we don't even learn the right lessons from past failures so there's no improvement. Saleh was hired largely because his personality is the polar opposite of Gase's, seemingly without consideration of how he'd actually do as a head coach.
I wanted Saleh or Pederson... I thought Look at how many 1st time HC, GM's and coordinators we've had in the last 20 Years... It's like owners can get them on the cheap or sumfin' ...once you see the patterns it all makes sense. #followthemoney
I've said it in the past, Saleh is not HC material. He's just a rah-rah coach that doesn't know how to draw up a game plan let alone know how to use the talent that JD has drafted. I think JD has done a decent job as GM but needs to hire a coach that is NFL ready to take the Jets to the next level, someone like Sean Payton.
Just saw that the Jags crushed the Chargers today. Not only that, TL threw for 262 yds and 3 TD's. Hmmmm... Could it be the coaching? the talent? nah... Its never the coaching..
Cause his situation was too similar to Gase. Jets history during the Johnsons reign has been to hire the complete opposite to the previous failed HC. Groh- Herm Herm- Mangini Mangini- Rex Rex- Bowles Bowles-Gase Gase- Saleh
And the only HC they hire with prior HC experience is Gase! Seriously, HE'S the guy you give another shot at?
You're right about the Johnsons' dumb logic, but seriously, Pederson won the Super Bowl. Gase grabbed a wild card with a negative point differential. They aren't comparable.
simple. the GM doesn't hire the head coach, the owner did. maybe some of us are now getting some insight as to why the hoodie bailed out after only 24 hours.....
the johnsons are never going to hire sean payton, because they will not meet his salary or demands for control. remember, the tuna was brought in to fix the mess by leon hess, not the johnsons. the hoodie bailed out after only 24 hours, so somebody tipped him off.
the complete opposite of how the jets look like and are doing. worse yet, even detroit looks like that. would anyone be shocked if the jets are battling arizona in game 17 for the 1st pick in next year's draft?
results count. Rex got results. even in buffalo, he was let go after a 7-9 season. right now, how many jet fans wish they could see a 7-9 season? ( for the first 16 games)
both mc carthy and pederson won a super bowl, and both are offensive background guys......so, the jets interview both and pass on both? the geniuses hire a defensive guy instead, in a league geared for offense.
I don’t think control is something Payton desires. He’s never had it in his life. But he’s not coming here. He left the Saints to chill for a year before he takes over the Cowboys. The Jets don’t even need to make it rain on a great head coach, they just need to make the right decision. They had a chance at Mike McDaniel, Pederson, Daboll, etc. and they made their bed with a defensive coordinator that hitched his wagon to the best pass rushing prospect of this generation.
