I feel really bad for the kid. Talent or not there is no replacement for experience and this kid has played very little football.
You are correct, I was not clear in my explanation. My response post was # 869 to DaWinner regarding his response to J&T that totally disregarded his important statement that Wilson was the worst QB in the league last year. Instead there was a leap to the totally unsupported conclusion that J&T was dumping Wilson because he missed a pass in a preseason game. What was your contribution to the topic at hand? I must have missed it. Edited to add: It looks like @bicketybam is getting in on the action as well. It also looks like Bam Bam has nothing to add to the discussion of the topic.
J&T made a comment listing reasons why he was off on ZW. Included on that list was the last game. Chronologically the last game happened most recently. There’s your leap. Completely supported. My contribution was calling you out for claiming Dawinner missed something he didn’t. Does anyone care? Absolutely not. Do I have fun calling you out on your off-base replys? Absolutely. It’s always a challenge hitting a moving target and as often as you change your story, it’s a moving target.
This is a great question but the problem with it is the game has changed so drastically since they modified the rules so Peyton could win and offense thrived that we have very little data. The $75 million quarterback is coming very soon. And then we will really know about how the big pay day affects the overall roster and what the best strategy for winning is. Brady really did unlock it in being paid less than everyone else, but that will very rarely ever be exploited as these guys seek to become the first billionaire pro athletes on salary only.
We have a long history or ruining quarterbacks by playing them injured or failing to protect them on passing plays. I have seen our current coaches make many mistakes but they are getting this one right. Do not play Zach until he is 110%.
hes expected to practice though and continue to ramp up. I think next week is when we will see if Zach gets #1 reps before the game next week.
This is my hope too. Ramp him up a little more this week, make sure everything still looks good, and then announce him the starter going into next week and let him go through the full week of game prep like normal. Fingers crossed.
He did some 7 on 7's last week and one would expect him to begin fully practicing this week. Last year he did 2 full weeks of practice before playing. I wonder if he will serve as back-up this week? Given our history I doubt it.
This is a building year whether fans like it or not. All the media and posting nonsense about the coach being on the hot seat and digs at the GM serve no purpose to move the Jets forward. Zach will play when the staff thinks he's ready and there will be good games and bad ones. The idea is to bring this young club along. There is no substitute for experience and they need that time to develop. Enjoy the ride.
Should've worded it better but this is what I meant. Let him get some 11on11 reps with the 2's this week but then next Monday, announce him as the starter and let him get all the reps with the 1's during the install. I doubt he'll be the back-up this week, that would be counter-intuitive to what Saleh has been saying about when he's returning, i.e. Zach being 110%, etc.
110% is literally impossible and NFL players rarely play at 100%. Wilson has to learn how to play with limitations. They are making a mistake with their stance
How do you judge if ZW is 110%? Does that mean he has to be 10% better than he was before his injury?
My guess is the meaning behind "110 percent" is that they are playing it conservative and playing for the long term. They will wait until they believe ZW is 100 percent healthy then wait a little longer to make sure he truly is 100 percent and ready to go.
