How is this stat even calculated? Is it an average so on the Corey Davis bomb when he had nobody near increases the separation stat? The stat sounds cool but I am not sure how relevant it is.

Breece Hall looks like he's warming up... along with Carter it's a nice 1-2 punch.
We have some really decent receivers & running backs.

The trick is keeping the QB upright and getting the ball to them.

If our OL gels, we're looking golden on offense with all these young studs.

You can ask NextGenStats and try to find out more information if you want, but the fact that Flacco has had two weeks in a row of guys who are open by a wide margin absolutely means something.

    I found this on jetsxfactor.

A player’s average cushion tells us the average number of yards there are between him and his nearest defender; this includes only plays in which he is targeted.

A player’s average separation tells us the average number of yards there are between him and his nearest defender at the time the ball arrives. Again, this only accounts for plays in which the player is targeted.

On its own, average separation is not a good metric for evaluating a player’s true separation ability. The reason for this is that the statistic rewards players for catching screen passes, dump-offs, and wide-open passes.

If a receiver catches a bubble screen against a defender who is playing 10 yards off of him, he gets credited with a ton of separation yards for doing nothing. This is why many of the top players in the average separation category are just “gadget guys” and slot receivers who are fed a lot of easy catches behind the line of scrimmage

You forgot Becton!!! J/k am still holding out hope he can fit somewhere on this team.

I agree about our skill position. A great balance of speed, and talent on both sides. Every guy you mentioned fits a role and contributes in his own way with Garrett having the highest ceiling. Carter has definitely taken that next step and is a threat almost every time he touches the ball especially on our passing downs. I love this group. Add in a Corey Davis and you got the makings of something special. Play calling is gonna be the one thing that prevents this teams offense from becoming dynamic. LaFleur did a very good job yesterday I must say.

It's nice to have a group of skill position players where multiple guys can take it to the house on any play.

It seems like Hall is one or inches from housing it every time he touches the ball. He's going to pop a 60+ yarder very soon.

What a great kid. Contrast this interview with Robbie Anderson his rookie year...you could hardly tell what Robbie was saying when the interviewed him.

    No need to compare elocution...
    G. Wilson is a much more complete player than Robbie Anderson.

    Not even close.

Wide open and Flacco missed him for a TD in the 3rd qtr on the rollout. Watch the play in the highlights.

Considering I dropped a good sum of cash for a Sauce Gardner jersey, I might need to get a Garrett Wilson one as well.

Can we talk about how subtly INSANE this Carter juke was? I remember seeing it in real time and being stunned, but then so much more happened that it got swallowed up and forgotten. Instead of bringing up a 3rd down, MC not only picks up the first but also gets out of bounds to stop the clock at a major pressure point in the game. The move was so smooth I had to watch several replays to try and pick up what he actually did - it was like he suddenly just slid past the defender basically untouched despite appearing to be completely cornered short of the marker.

It was a sweet move by MC, but the corner also made a fairly lazy effort. I think he expected some kind of collision. He dropped his shoulders from the look of it.

Yeah, I think Carter set him up to lead the corner to believe he was going out of bounds and and then duped him, but even with that, the cut itself in those scenarios is usually super hard and creates a lot of exposure to getting tackled in bounds because suddenly all weight is going away from the sideline. MC almost looked like a basketball player throwing a eurostep at a defender - he just seemed to inexplicably slide by him for the needed 2 yards before calmly slipping out of bounds.

It's fun having multiple players on the roster who can do things like this, and do them in big spots.
