It was different though. TL was hyped for two years before that draft. The ZW hype all happened after the Jets had gotten a look at him at the pro day. Everybody said that the Jets had fallen in love with ZW and he was going to be the pick. That's different than hype by the masses. That's the masses deciding the Jets were going to do what the Jets were going to do and predicting it as a result of the obvious infatuation. I actually thought JD had done a really good smokescreen there until the 49ers traded a mint to trade up to #3. That's when I knew we were in trouble because the Fins got our deal instead of us getting it. Then he traded up for AVT and I was out on JD for good. I can't stand GM's who think they are smarter than everybody else. Those guys always fail and usually sooner rather than later.
I have to admit I was wrong. I was losing my mind at the time but it worked out perfectly. Got to give him credit.
