That’s been my priority list for the last 5 years. You can make just as much of a case for OLB, ILB, S etc
Unfortunately next year’s draft isn’t a strong one for offensive tackles. But we should get a premium pass rusher
Call me crazy but I am really happy that we finally have a nice pair of offensive guards. We neglected the position for the longest time.
LT and C yes but let’s see how Mitchell plays at RT. By the end of the year he may turn out to be quite a find. Not all solid starting OTs are high picks…..
Seriously..... A post about this already? ?? How bout we check out the Product on the Field first before we Tank for a high Draft pick lmao
Unless we somehow manage to get some Free Agents ---- I would put the order at; LT ILB DT Above also contingent upon Max Mitchell showing something he can possibly start at RT next year. I think George Fant will be gone & we cannot rely on Mekhi Becton AT ALL.
My vote as always: BAP BAP BAP If we draft with that agenda we will be back to the playoffs soon enough.
LB Trenton Simpson (Clemson) Noah Sewell (Oregon) C Jarrett Patterson(Notre Dame) Sedrick Van Pran(Georgia) OT Zion Nelson(Miami) Peter Skoronski(Northwestern)
The Jets are almost to that point but from what I’ve seen they still need to concentrate on upgrading that OL and LB. if it works out they can start BAP in 24
Correct on Becton - Fant depends on what he’s asking. He’s played well and JD likes him but he’ll be 30. I can see him coming back on a 2 or 3 year deal if affordable.
Tell you what, he also drove Saban nuts with his 4 penalties (3 offsides penalties and 1 unnecessary roughness). . Bryce Young came up big in the clutch although 'Bama was very fortunate as well: Texas kicker bricked a 20 yd. FG not to mention their starting QB getting knocked out and their 2nd string QB playing on one leg. Even though they won they barely survived an unranked team - wouldn't be surprised if Georgia tops the rankings when they come out (even though Georgia only played FCS Samford)
Oh as of this moment GA would crush Alabama head to head no doubt……that could change as the season goes on but Alabama definitely shouldn’t be #1. Very fortunate to survive TX…..
The next couple of drafts have to be about building the team. That means putting together a solid OL with some depth and putting together a solid LB corps. The DL seems to have enough talent if they are well supported and don't have to be on the field 35 minutes a game. Probably the Jets should avoid a 1st round QB at all costs for the next couple of years as they're building the team. When you do go get that young guy he needs to have the full support of the entire team or he will fail (again) and that's just a waste of a high pick and 2 or 3 years, If the Jets manage to put the OL and LB's together they can get a 2nd tier vet and compete with him until the right young guy becomes available. It worked with Vinny because the core of the team was already there. It will work ok with a Wentz or a Mayfield until the draft and a QB line up together to give us a real franchise QB.
